I don't know what the Vita has to do with this since it's not a controller and it would be kinda idiotic for Sony to release a handheld without a screen, but we are talking Sony so you never know, right?

"I don't know what the Vita has to do with this since it's not a controller"

remember as of: Firmware version 1.80

Thanks to a PS Vita firmware update recently released by Sony, users can now turn the handheld device into a controller for their PS3, as well as use it to play a number of PSOne Classics games.

So yes indeed it may have something to do with it.

This rumor contradicts the previous rumor from Digital Foundry. I trust DF a lot more than I do Kotaku.
If Kotaku really did receive a 90-page documentation on PS4, why not share it with us?

Anyway let me share my thoughts on this rumor:
-PS4 new controller sounds interesting. I would like to see the design for it first though. I like the fact that its a touch pad instead of touscreen as that avoids the "copying Nintendo" troll comments.
-Account system sounds great for those who have multiple users. Would increase controller sales
-Great to see DS3 being supported as well
-Specs seem over-powered to me. This is what worries me about the credibility of this rumor.

I would need to see that PS4 controller before making up my mind on it. The touchpad on the back of Vita isn't exactly easy to use......

hmm clickable controller?
I remember having that idea back at the ps3 launch.
My idea was basically a split middle section that allowed you to partially rotate the independant halves. The idea was to work with something like drifting in a racing game, or throwing grenades/footballs with left or right arms, and weapon selecting.
Anyway, sounds pretty great, and the rgb does indeed sound like some kind of ps eye tracker.

That's good news. Now I can watch the glorious 180° people will make about a touchscreen on a Controller.

Yep

Sometimes I wonder if you're really a Vita owner

That's not you because you spelled his name Pezuz! LIAR!

Everyone is discussing the raw power of the PS4 while the most significant feauture in my opinion is the possibility to store information, PSN ID, on a PS4 controller for synchronization purposes as well as multiple users on the same system (instead of just the game). This could be really good on a social level more oftenly visiting family and friends. Sony has taken notice of the popularity of Skylanders and created such a feature with better technology for a whole system. I like :) and hope it's true.

Power side: Looking to these specs the 1.8TF could be true which means since the Ps4 has the same architecture more or less that there is no excuse for PS4 multiplats not looking better than on other consoles. Can't wait for a real press release by Sony.

Is there normally much difference between a development kit and the final console? As it stands, PS4 sounds really impressive in terms of specs and the controller sounds interesting too, i hope they don't change it too much though, i like dualshock

Rumor mentions dualshock 3 compatibility so would it really matter if the PS4 pad sucks? As long as DS3 is an option nothing to worry about.

Yeah there would be mad not to offer dualshock 3 compatibility, even Wii U works fine with the old wii remote, so it should be there

ACCOUNTS

Sony is trying to change the way you think about user accounts with the PS4. As it stands now, and this applies to all current consoles (and the Wii U), when you log in, you log in as a single user. With Orbis, Sony is moving the place of "ownership" away from the console, with something it calls "multi-user simultaneous logins."Which means that the PS4 will let more than one person be logged into the same system at the same time. It achieves this by linking control pads to user accounts; as each new controller syncs with the system, that player's account can be logged in as well. Accounts won't be "locked" to a controller; you'll simply be prompted to sign in to an account every time an extra pad is connected to the console. One application we learned about for this feature would be that, were four players in a co-op battle able to defeat a boss, then all four would receive trophies. We only learned of this feature in relation to local accounts stored on the console itself. It's unclear whether you'd also be able to do this via the PlayStation Network if you were playing online.——That's it for now. Remember, none of this information is confirmed, and even the information that is locked down in January 2013 may change before the console's eventual release, which is likely not for at least another nine months, at minimum. This is just what we've been told Sony is working on and planning for as of today. That being the case, how do you think it's shaping up?

that would be very welcome news but doesn't xbl already allow this?

I don't really trust Kotaku honnestly :( So I take this news cautiously.

On a side not, how do I put a gif in one of my posts? :(

gets more interesting every time i read a new rumor.
