Forums - Nintendo - WiiU - Lots of new Info - Same poor result. Why Nintendo Direct just confirms my fears.

Nono, Bethesda makes some of the best RPGs out there, that's why people like them. They are certainly not a bad developer, they just have a bad habbit of accepting too many bugs in their final releases.

Their publishing, on the other hand, could be a whole lot better. They have made some incredibly odd choices on that front.

To me it just seems like they release games plagued with glitches and bugs so I can't really go for them. But I am certain there are people who would love to see them get on wii u. I just can't see it happening.

The ones nintendo want to build bridges with are namco, tecmo and square enix. If they get them then they pretty much have the majority of releases from them locked for the generation. I am sure capcom and sega will give good support anyway. And tbh I'm expecting namco to give good support and see square start kissing their backsides. I'm not sure about tecmo or konami because metal gear has flopped on everything that isn't a playstation since the 90s.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

I just wish Nintendo took more risks with their time tested IPs.....

I would Love to see a Pokemon MMO, a gritty Zelda, a sandbox 3D Mario game, Metroid via a game like Skyrim (scale).

Yeh like Microsoft does with all of there's...

i applaud Nintendo (same as sony) for having lots of great IPs and lots of loveable characters. The wiiU is doing good and we need to wait to see how there new games perform before we make doom threads. I'm not a Nintendo gamer and currently nin has shown nothing to get me on board for the WiiU (a brand new Zelda might) but the core is currently happy and that's who Nintendo currently need to get to jump on to the WiiU. There is plenty of time for WiiUsports and WiiUFit.

I would also like to say to the OP that it was very well written and you should be a gaming journalist.

We all know Nintendo home console business had been in a state of continual decline since the NES right through to Gamecube.

(....)

The market has grown and WiiU will get some leftover Wii love so I've no doubt WiiU will outsell GC but by returning to a red ocean strategy with aging IPs and no innovation (touch screens are not innovative in 2012) Nintendo is guaranteeing themselves a third place finish this gen.

Seriously, no offence, but there´s so many wrong things in this text that it´s even hard to know where to start.

Nintendo did what its consumers expected it to do: new games for WiiU, both first and third party, updates that address some small problems, expansion of Miiverse, state of their works with Platinum Games and a few unexpected suprises, like the SMT x FE crossover and the new Monolith RPG.

It´s a shame that some people simply can´t accept the joy and excitment of others. Let real gamers and Nintendo fans fell happy, enjoy and have fun with what they have.

I also disagree with Nintendo's strategy the past few years, where I indeed feel they squandered away their advantage in the market. However, I am not sure Wii U has abandoned the mass market yet. Maybe they realize that $350 is too expensive for that Wii Sports-market anyway, so their focus will shift more back to them once they are able to drop the Wii U price.

At that time, the Wii U will probably be the cheap alternative to Xbox 3 and PS4, and a good option for the budget gamer. Today it isn't.

Not necessarily. The tablet controller is a bit expensive. If PS4 comes with regular controller it can be as cheap as Wii U or at least close. Durango will probably come with Kinect, but they can sell it at loss under a 1~2 years Live Gold contract (most Xbox owners alredy pay for Gold anyway). The rumoured prices of PS4/720 aren't high.

First, he calls Wind Waker as a bad Zelda game when it is actually the only 3D zelda trying to replicate the NES games overworld exploring the sea at your leisure without any restrictions to go from one corner of the map to the other, something that OoT, MM, TP and SS cannot do.

The NES game never let you explore the overworld at your leisure. In fact, it made a point of trying to kill you on every screen...

Not sure what Xenoblade has to do with Nintendo. Outside of the fact that Nintendo owns the studio.

Joke post, I presume?

That's depends on your skills, not that mine are good or at least decent.

Anyway, my point still stands: you can explore the overwolrd withouth restrictions, unlike the other 3D Zeldas.

Thank you.  I've actually written some reviews/articles and developer interviews for other gaming sites.  Pro-bono.

Would be nice to get paid to spout out like this. lol.

Suddenly, Sony and Microsoft fans seem awfully concerned that casual gamers get enough games. So considerate of them.

Once Nintendo provides a plethora of games tailored to ages 5-95.....we'll go back to the Wii U is underpowered argument again.
