At the old age of gaming when we have consoles like PS1,Sega Saturn,N64,Gamecube and others. We usually have games that seem to always marvels us like Metal Gear Solid,Zelda,Metroid,Zelda and etc. And as sequel being made it have such a huge different especially some sequel that being appeared in consoles like PS2,Xbox,Wii. However as time goes by,this is where the disaster started. We have games which have a huge number of sequel such as the Final Fantasy & Resident Evil but do you think is there any huge improvement as game started to developed on PS3 & Xbox 360 ? NO !! It make it ten times worser than their previous release. Game like Final Fantasy XIII have a fairly good critic review however fan of Final Fantasy dislike that game because of boring protaganist ( Lighthing ), shitty grinding, lame story and overall most character are so damn boring if you compared other Final Fantasy games like Final Fantasy VII,VIII,IX,X. Same goes to Resident Evil 6 but you know the reason. 

However on the bright sight, there are game that seems to improve tremendously such as Far Cry,Elder Scroll,Metal Gear Solid,Grand Theft Auto and other amazing franchise. 

But i asked you guys,what causes this gaming franchise to becomes more better or worser ? It is because the game made by different developer or maybe they take inspiration from other game and try to copied the idea but fails. Feel free to give out your opinion ?

A lot of third party games. Out of all those that you listed I've only owned Resident Evil (3DS), Castlevania (WiiWare), Call of Duty (WaW, BO), and Tony Hawk (I believe 4 was the last one I played). I don't play Tony Hawk or Call of Duty (except at one of my friends sometimes on survival).

Usually the quality eventually drops (or gets better for a little then drops again) for most long last series.  Just look at movies.  Most don't get past 3 or 4 because by then most people get tired of it.

Out of what you do not have.
1.Pokemon (X and Y will be brilliant, but the ones after that.)
2.All those sports games.
3.Mario (To be honest, after Galaxy, I don't see any other Mario game to top it for a long time.)
4.Diablo
5.Starcraft
6.The Tales series. Symphonia and then went downhill. Hopefully Xillia changes things.

Agree there are sequel that just copy and paste from previous game which you could obviously tell the difference from it. Some are just game which developer fix which isn't broken like Resident Evil 6. Sad year for the gaming industry :(

I think what he meant game which is currently release or upcoming games like Deus Ex Human Revolution and Bioshock : Infinite. 

well you listed games i can agree have hit their low point. i guess it depends on saturation of said games in the market.

agree with some of the list,i regret owning final fantasy xiii,dragon age 2,resident evil 6.i feel like it has nothing special compare to the previous release of the game. probably because old developer that used to make game like megaman,final fantasy,resident evil left the gaming industry for some purposes and replaced with a incompetent developer.

I find games are becoming more streamlined and less original as time goes by.

It seems most time is just spent on polish instead of adding depth to the gameplay. But I think gamers can only blame themselves for this. The gaming community has become very fickle I think this is cause of games being more casualized and more socially acceptable past-time, companies focus on attracting new gamers into their game instead of keeping their fanbase happy. So nobody wants to make games have too much depth in fear of losing the casual player who is perfectly satisfied playing simple games all the time.

the gamers of today would buy a copy of their prefered game instead of playing completely new experiences, and everyone votes with his wallet on what kind of games we will get.

I don't game as much as I used to, and I barely buy any games anymore. Simply because I find every game today very simplistic and empty.

Turok and F.E.A.R. have been in decline since the beginning.

I agree with Pezus about Deus Ex and BioShock. I can't imagine any sequels ever topping the original.
