Forums - Sony - What if Sony goes the WiiU route for memory?

I think that's what they should do. Release a cheap version with just 12-16 GB. The only difference to Wii U I want is to make space for an internal HDD. I don't want to have to use an external one.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

there is an ssd in the wii U??

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

To be honest, if they did that I would be pretty unimpressed. I've got nothing against the Wiiu but I've got expectations for the PS4 too.

The one recent rumor for PS4 said it would have an SSD (don't ask for link I can't keep them all straight anymore).  What if Sony put in a small SSD and encouraged upgradeable memory.  a 12gb SSD model vs. a 100gb more expensive model would be awesome if they had non proprietary SSDs.  The loading times for SSDs are apparently incredibly low and everything goes faster.  I would buy a 256gb SSD on amazon almost right away but it would be a nice option right off the bat for those that like the 12gb PS3 and 4gb xbox.

sony are shit. financial ruin beckons.

Nintendo must not have gotten the memo.

hmmmm true but I've seen PC gamers using them and it seems to work wonders.  Is that a product of WiiU's RAM?

the slow data downloading is from nintendo's online network. it has nothing to do with its storage

If you think Xbox 360 hard drives are expensive you don't want to see what decent sized SSDs cost. My PC's system drive is a 512gb SSD and I love it, but it cost me as much as 4 Terabyte drives. I don't think Sony wants to make the PS3 cost any more than it needs to. They'll probably have a 16gb built in SD with support for more SD and USB memory or just go with the cheap but effective standard laptop drive like they did last time.

Maybe Sony will launch the console with 8GB internal flash memory and like 20 slots for their proprietary memory cards? :P

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

yes but built in, the same flash based memory technology. The Wii U basic has 8GB and the Deluxe has 32GB.

On other topic, I have been playing Trine 2 from an external hard drive (rotating disk) and I have not had any problem. I haven't download any big game but the speed of tranfers between 2.0 usb ports is enough faster than retail disk reader on any console.
