Wait, if what you just said is true (that Sony hasn't released any shipment figures for the past year), how do we know the PS3 has been outshipping the 360 all of 2012? And outshipping 360 + Wii combined? I find that quite a stretch. 360 did outship/outsell it in 2011 after all.

There is no exactly quarter number but PS3 shipped 70 million at November 4th, 2012... that's put 6.1 million for the fiscal year (April to October) and 8 million for the year.

The Microsoft and Nintendo had for the year (Jan to September):

360: 4.2 million
Wii: 2.2 million

We are talking about 6.4 million combined (Wii + 360 as of September 2012) and 8 million (PS3 as of October 2012).

PS3 needs ship more 2 million in November and December to reach 10 million in the year... the most problable is near 13 million shipped this year.

MOves like jager, move's like jager

Guys, any word about software sales? Ratio, etc?

We got nothing, like usual. Pure damage control on Microsoft's part.

MS not saying anything must be bad news, indeed.

More than 6 billion dollar in profits for a quarter of a year is bad news? Can't wait for some good news then!

Software sales like Windows 8 selling the fastest out of all OS's before it and Halo 4 are doing just fine.

3 last comments before me are damn funny

Yay!!!

Soooo

Rough guess about 500k-700k undertracked?

Im going to hazard another guess that PS3 will be over and we will be exactly back to where we were before.

The gen is almost over so doesn't really matter anymore but it is good to see the 360 do better then this website credits it as doing.

Hahaha, no, just no.

No what?

The 360 is quite clearly undertracked

1. The 360 is probably undertracked to some degree, just not to the ridiculous figure of 500,000-700,000.

2. The PS3 is not likely to be overtracked at all given all the numbers we already know and there is even the chance that it could be undertracked as well.

3. There is no realistic way that for this year the 360 and PS3 have sold roughly the same and we are "exactly back to where we were before" as the original posted stated.

4. Yet another poster who is a fan of a certain console, which is eventually going to get overtaken trying to claim "it doesn't matter anymore because the gen is nearly over" *rollseyes*

Someone is very defensive. Have a look at the numbers again. LOL "ROLLS EYES"

Nope just telling it like it is.

How much of that came from their entertainement division, other than zero of coarse lol...

I love the "Continued leadership in console market" part. They are TRYING, boy are they TRYING...what can I say... keep TRYING lol.

? The Gaming division (EDD) made 600 million USD profit. It is very healthy actually.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Here they come Kow....

Not surprised to see it's undertracked, the Europe figures haven't looked right for me all through the holidays when looking at the sales of some of the big titles. The PS3 has a bigger userbase and is selling more weekly yet on some of the biggest multiplatform titles it doesn't seem to back up our numbers imo. Wonder if we'll get the adjustments that never happened last year...

I can see the gap being back to over 2 million once all the financials are done and dusted and the adjustments completed. I can't imagine we'll see any adjustment until at least Nintendo's financial results.

And when does that come?

Yay!!!

could someone give me some examples what "Corporate-level activity" includes?

I know legal, HR and stuff, but why is it massively up YoY?

Well, a bit of disappointed for me. I expect at least Xbox 360 can remain the same shipment figure as in 2011, approximate 6.5million. However, total more than 10million X360 were shipped in calendar year 2012. It is still acceptable for a 7 year old console.
