Forums - Gaming - Gaming hardware at CES 2013 Thread

Below you will find the coolest gaming related hardware showcases that were on display at CES 2013. (in no specific order). The Verge should pay me for all the links I provided to their site...

Discus your thoughts on these lovely devices and if you think that you may end up buying a few down the road.

In terms of myself, I plan to check out the Archos Gamepad, Oculus Rift and Nvidia Shield. May end up buying the Gamepad if I see it under 150 bucks and Oculus Rift at any price if it works flawlessly with games I want to play. I really don't care about Steambox whatever it ends up being as I have no issues streaming a regular PC to my TV. And Razer Edge is way too expensive and impractical for me to bother.

I wonder if the Nvidea shield is just an andriod that can stream pc games.

What about the Xi3? We didn't see any games coming out of it but that's probably the most exciting piece of gaming hardware during the event.

I see you put the SteamBox but the Xi3 is not it, Gabe Newell himself said it.

Yeah that belongs in the Stembox category. There really aren't any specifics announced about the Xi3 that one could report on. It runs Linux and works with Valves Big Picture UI...  For all we know it could be one of many Valve certified Steambox PCs.

they all look horrible and wont sell an ass

I see the similarity but the Archos Gamepad is what Sony should have done with the PSP. Except applied the Sony hardware magic and created their own Android ecosystem which is exclusive to their portable hardware and possibly phones.

I disagree with look horrible and I agree they won't sell an ass.

Most of these devices are cool ideas and anyone that likes technology should appreciate them. If you don't like this kind of stuff and gadgetry, not sure why you are on this forum...

well i would like them if they were good, aesthetically they look very bad, and dont offer anything you cant get anywherelse, plus they are overpriced and have poor design

Most of them are prototypes, this designs aren't going to be the final ones. Not sure about Razer Edge though, last year they show it and it had the same design.
