I was wondering how many people still preorder games.  I've have never not been able to find a game on a release day because it was sold out.  When GTA: SA came out for the PS2 back in the day I went to my local Gamestop and they told me unless I preordered, I would not be able to get the game for months.  After that I went to another store in the mall call FYI and they had tons of them.  I was so pissed at the guy from Gamestop, that I went back and showd him that I found the game no problem at another store.  Gamestop basically lost my sale bacause they did not have enough on stock.

The only way I can see someone preordering a game is if they offer you something in advance (ie. a shirt or hat or even a reduced price) or if you live in a desolate area where you only have one game store.  DVD's are extreamly easy to produce. There just stamped out and cost just pennies to make.

I'm getting pretty fed up with the concept. We get nothing out of the deal most of the time.

I think someone should start a campaign against pre-ordering, specifically at places like GameStop/EbGames, until they start making it whorth our while. All we are doing is giving them a clear picture about how many of a certain title they should order. So, for helping them with their ordering process, I think we deserve half off a used game or something. Who has the energy to organize such a campaign? Maybe I should write Cassamassina.

i believe that Gamestop has a policy to not sell you a new release on the release date without a preorder (even if they have extra in stock) as a way to motivate you to preorder. I could be wrong but someone told me that.

i never preorder ever because A) I've never not been able to get a game I want due to it selling out and B) I want to wait to hear reviews for most games, why put money down on a game that could turn out bad in the end.

Why would you care so much to make some kind of movement against preordering? If you don't want to preorder a game then just don't do it. It's really that simple. Some people prefer to preorder their games because they simply like the comfort so why should you try to ruin their day?

I do agree that they do do some shady/annoying things like tell you that you got the last copy of a game when you didn't preorder (I've never seen them like about having none since, you know, they like money) and constantly being hounded to preorder like constantly getting asked to upsale your popcorn like at a movie theater is annoying but that's no reason to be selfish and fuck with people that actually want to preorder. 

I pre order a Lot, because a Live Outside US, and want to play the games before other people in my country. New games are coming to stores here almost a Month late.

Never have and never will, I'll get the game when I can get it and for the price I want it even if I have to wait.

They do that because they only get a few extra copies more than there preorders, so they try to get as many preorders as they can. That and they have to make there quota per store or get written up.
