I'd exchange the scores for Music and Gameplay, but pretty much inline with my thoughts as well.

Guys I did not allow this review to be posted which is why you dont see me putting this in the database so no need to complain about me.

Anyways @OT - FFIX is one of my most favorite FF games, I cant wait to play it again, its been so many years. Reading your review has given me the urge to play it again but I'm gonna play all of the games in order now (already finished 1 and 2 again). |
It doesn't show him listed as their "reviewers".
But even if it did, by what standard to they hold to be "unbiased"?

To be unbiase one must attempt to leave one's personal likes and dislikes out of it. View the meterial with only a critical eye. Nothing is perfect so you must look past that which you love to see what may be less than great. But also a reviewer must look past what they don't like and attempt to find merit where it is due. That is what an unbias reviewer must strive for.

This exactly.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyedthis game so much. It's definitely one of the greatest games ever made, with a love story that doesn't make you cringe. If you're going to play any other FF game (Aside from maybe 6) prepare to be underwhelmed.
Final Fantasy IX, Xenogears, Legend of Dragoon, and Star Ocean: The 2nd Story, all felt like I was experiencing a classic novel (Star Ocean was a choose-your-own-adventure novel) with a battle system. This is something that's serioiusly lacking with today's RPGs.
I am the Playstation Avenger.

I don't agree with your definition of bias. This person had never played any FF's before and thusly had no external reason to enjoy this more than he would otherwise. A bias review for me would be one that is either paid or is a prior fan of the series and as a result would look through rose tinted glasses. This person fell in love with FF9 because he enjoyed the game. That's not bias.

Its too bad not a single reviewer in the world has those qualifications because everyone even if you dont want to admit it always has a backdoor of ideas that either loves a game or hates a game to death. |
You may be right but I always try my hardest to review a game on what the general conensus of what people would think of the game rather than me. If not games like ZombiU would have recieved a much higher score as I love the game but I gave it a 7.8 I also revise and edit everybody's reviews before they post them to make sure it isnt over hyped or getting bashed for no reason. No, we are not perfect but we do try to make it as accurate as possible.

I don't spend my time looking for minor flaws, i judge a game on how i feel when i'm playing it, and i haven't enjoyed a game in a long time like i have with this game, moments like zidane explaining his past to garnet in a hidden village is just breathtaking, and it's just not seen in video games these days, plus i would rather focus on what is right rather then what is wrong
I know when your reviewing a game, you should focus on every aspect off the game, especially the bad points, but honestly i must have been immersed in the game to much, because i rarely saw any flaws at all

That's why I said a reviewer must STRIVE for it and ATTEMPT to leave personal likes and dislikes out of it. It's obviously humanly impossible to cut out all of one's personal tastes, but with critical thinking most of it can be. This is less of a review and more of a love letter to FFIX. If he posted it without claiming it as unbiased I wouldn't have had anything to say other than I'm glad he enjoyed the game. But to present it as a unbiased assessment of the game is quite opposite to the reviews reality. This review is so bias it comes across as propoganda.
