Forums - Sales - PS3 most popular console in Beligium (2007)

But is it the French speaking or the Dutch speaking side that buy the PS3? The two regions are quite different as far as I know.

Well, all the gamers I know (and myself) are from the french speaking region... But I don't think there are many differences in the tastes between north and south when it comes to videogames. Maybe the few Dutch speaking people playing videogames that I know prefer a little bit to play on their PC than on consoles...

Well, I'm from Belgium and, even if I know more people with a Wii or a 360 than a PS3, Sony's console is indeed really popular over here (many of the owners of other console I know plan to buy a PS3 for games like MGS4... I surely will when that game is released). Btw, my brother works in a shop and they've sold tenth of 40 Go PS3 : people did not care that the console would not play their old PS2 games.

Is there any other belgian on VGchartz ? ^_^

Well i'm belgian too and like i said before, absolutely every person except one coming in my shop has changed his mind about buying a ps3 when we told him it would not play ps2 games.

Do the salesmen in your shop's brother tell people the 40Gb doesn't play ps2 games ? I dont think so or if they do it, they dont do it often probably.

Zones : I still don't understand all the love for Blizzard, what was the last game they developed worth playing?

360 is the best I'm glad Belgians see that.

By the end of 2007    1) optimistic ps3 sales: 2) realistic ps3 sales: 3) pessimistic ps3 sales:

You sold 1 40 GB PS3? How big is your shop?

PS3 takes Spain (+portugal?), Italy, Belgium and some other smaller (VG market wise) countries... oh and New Zealand.

In some of the countries It may be due to Wii not even having a proper presence there, ie there are very few Wiis or there hasn't even been an official launch (import from next door countries)
True there are some where Nintendo probably never even built a name for itself in the first place, and Sony has a huge international brand name after all.

Also I am not so sure about the Netherlands Mike,... I vaguely remember them being opposites in terms of Ninty/PS presence (both poor for 360 of course)

IMO add at least Germany, France and Japan to the list already. With regard to the Netherlands PS3 games are outperforming their 360 equivalents already:

Not bad considering the 1 year and 5 months headstart for the 360.

France and Japan are clearly Wii territory. Germany is more balanced but still favours Wii, and Netherlands I need to see some weekly/monthly data, and some LTD data to decide, but i suspect it also goes to Wii, or has both close together.

The Wii does very well in those countries, for Japan the Wii is clearly superior. The PS2 is IMO more competing with the Wii in most countries. I was more thinking about 360 vs PS3, that's most relevant to me, sorry for the confusion. I just think owning a Wii next to another high specced console may make more sense for the long run, thus will be competing less for consumers.
