anywho yeah...I was hoping I would get to pick either Win7 or 8 for my laptop (got it during black friday week)..they only offered win8. For the specs it was a great deal so I went with it thinking win8 can't be that bad despite what I have been reading online....i was wrong.

However I was shown some new set of apps that can use to completely change the way the OS looks at start. I will give them a go I think. The current way it's implimented is just stupid. This is not a suitable OS for non touch devices. Should have just improved on 7 instead. At work I use 7 and I love it

A couple of apps and you can pretty much have the look and feel of windows 7 but the better speed of 8.

Sure hope so. The fact that there is a need for such a thing tells you though..this is disappointing from MS. I know ecosystems are important and all but you don't need to push it on everything. Win9 will hopefully take the criticism into consideration.

You won't notice the difference in speed between Windows 7 and Windows 8 on a decently equipeed PC, it's non-existent if you have a fast SSD.

You *will* however notice it on a Intel Atom powered netbook with a horrible 5400rpm HDD, Windows 8 just boots and becomes usable so much faster.

Then again, if you have an Intel Atom powered netbook/laptop/tablet with an Intel GMA 3600, don't install Windows 8 anyway, as Intel hasn't released decent drivers and the OS will hence be unstable.

gotcha...yeah my laptop (not a gaming laptop or a really high end one..but a decent one) has win8 and my office pcs have win 7 and I don't really see a difference. Both are pretty snappy and fast
