Title says it all. And yes I'm talking about physical ps2 discs, not downloaded.

Since the PS3 dumped it I doubt Sony will bring it back on the PS4. All signs are pointing toward the PS4 not being PS3 compatible so it's very possible that the PS4 won't even bother to play PSX games either. Sony may decide to go with some kind of Virtual Console type of thing rather so they can sell us games we already own instead of letting us use our own discs.
I keep the systems I buy forever so backwards compatibility is more of a convenience thing for me. But if the PS4 doesn't support it I'll just keep using my older Playstations for their games. It's not a deal breaker.
It would be funny if could play PS2 games, after the PS3 couldn't. The best PS2 games will probably be available for download from playstation store by then anyway

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030
Doubt it seeing as how the PS3 didn't*. Earlier PS3 models had Emotion on-board so unless the PS4 has it, it won't.
The problem with PS2 emulation is that it requires 2 strong CPU cores which is why were getting selected PS2 classics on PSN. (My guess)
If the PS4 doesn't have the Cell on-board, then it wont be PS3 compatible either.

No. Read any of the above posts.
Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)
Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U
Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY
I wouldn't count on it ...
The system should be powerful enough to run a PS2 emulator, even if it is only a modest improvement over the PS3, but I don't believe that Sony would see the value in developing, testing and supporting an emulator for the small market of people who would see value in PS2 backwards compatibility.
Why would any of us know this at our point in time?
Besides, backwards compatibility usually only works with the gen. Before it, in this case PS3. I doubt it'll be able to use PS2 discs.
