I always thought that question is supposed to determine your outlook on situations. Like your particular perception on an event or situation that has or will take place?

Yhyh it is to be honest. 

Half empty is supposed to be more of a negative thought process whilst half full is being "positive" or optimistic. I say the answer will always change depending on the situation. Half full is generally considered more positive though.

 

EDITED: I picked half full, but without a scenario it is more or less pointless. Unless you asked a question like, half empty or half full, whats your instant reaction? or something of the kind. Good thread by the way.

Then IM Half Full lmao! Makes sense though! I wouldn't have thought about at first.

If you think about it you will notice that if something is half empty it has to be half full at the same time. So these two things are not opposites.

So if I ask you if you think that this glass is half empty you would probably say yes.
If I would have asked you if you think that this glass is half full you would have probably answered "yes", too. Both conditions simply hold true.

So it would be my question that would define my thinking about you as a "positive" or a "negative" thinking human.

when the glass is empty and you fill it half with water it is half full.
when the glass is full of water and you drink half of it, it is half empty.

The glass is full. Half is liquid, the other half is gas.
