Also, color me surprised that The Walking Dead game got such a high score! Pretty impressed.

That was only after it got hyped. The initial episodes didn't originally get that high. Then when it Got bundled the scores went crazy. Maybe the reviewers saw the whole as more then a sum of its episodes. Or they just got consumed by hype.
