Personally, when I see posts saying that the price will go down to 169.99$ seems stupid for me, just because Nintendo slashed their price that much it doesn't necessarily mean Sony will do the same. 

I will go with 199.99$.

Price cut to 199 wouldn't do anything, at least in Europe. 199 is pretty much the standard price over here. Can get a 3G Vita for 149,90€ new right now.

Yes and thats because we already had a price cut here in Europe you genius, a few weeks ago Sony drop the ovp price from 249 for vita wifi to 199 and from 299 for 3g to 249Euro.

$50 (and whatever that translates into in other currency) off and it'll do at least OK next year, $80 off early and it could do very well.

If I were Sony I'd go for $50 off in the first half of 2013. 

I'm thinking $75 off Wi-Fi and $100 of 3G (I expect this model to be phased out).

I can't find anything regarding a price cut in europe, except this:

Where you are from? If you are from Germany than you sure saw one of the new "Playstation Vita now only 199 Euro" commercials, this commercials where everywhere in TV around Xmas, at least in Germany and Austria there was  definitely an official price cut and in many other parts of Europa like your source confirmed France and Belgium as well I, but I don't know if this price cut affects wohle Europe by now.

But I'm unsure if it will do too much good for the Vita.

The price cut for 3DS certainly had a big effect on sales, but I would argue that games like Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 had bigger effects. What Vita needs is a "killer app."
