I don't think Sony ever planned for it, it's just that the developers made the demo, showed it to Sony, and got the green light. They really seem to care about this IP, which I think is promising.

I hope everyone who can support it does so. That would show Sony that bringing back of these classic characters is something they should look into.

I can only speak for myself here. I bought the first game and adored it, one of the best games on the PS2. I was all hyped up and then the second one came out...

Instead of the tight brilliant level design you had open world which was just meh. Also while the first had a few annoying bits it made up for it with so much good. I spent much more time just getting through 2 to find something enjoyable.

By the time 3 rolled around it looked like more of 2 and I just ignored it. I did buy the HD collection just for 1 and found it aged great while the others did little for me. Have a wait and see on 4 to see if it goes back to original or continues the decline.

Ah right, well I've never played the games, I mean, I own the HD Trilogy, but I only bought it when I heard Sly 4 was releasing, and saw a trailer and screenshots, y'know? It looks really fun...

Is the change in games as drastic as the Jak games? Because personally I REALLY disliked the second and third games, they changed the gameplay way too much, as if they were trying to copy the Ratchet & Clank games, and not to mention the difficulty increased tenfold, l raged so much during the second game, lol.

I guess I'll have to play through the first three games before the fourth comes out lol, which isn't until... March for the EU, right?

I have the EXACT same feelings about the Jak and Daxter series. Loves the first, second a big departure that did nothing for me with the open world focus.
