No worries, I totally know what you mean. And I don't necessarily disagree.
I guess it all comes down to how you define "great". IMO there are bad, decent, good and amazing deals.
Bad would be a 5% on an old psp game (e.g. valhalla knights for £6,15 from £6,75).
Then there are the decent ones like the battlefield 3 one. It's much cheaper at retail (£15 instead of £30, but you get to play it almost right away and as you said, you can share it, IF you can).
A good deal would be Tokyo Jungle. It's not a very popular game, but it got a good price cut and there is no other way to buy this game.
The great deals are the 75%-80% on Steam of great games. Most of the Steam offers are great.
Lastly, there are the amazing ones, like the humble bundles. You can get huge franchises for almost nothing.
It goes without saying, that not everyone agrees with this. As if people agreed on anything! When I say no one, I don't mean not a single person, but the vast majority at least of peolple who are careful when they buy things online. Of course there are people who might find the Batllefield 3 deal awesome, when it's not. Same with when people say that no one asked for a FFXIII-3. I want it and so many others do too, but most FF fans think it's a complete waste of resources.
At the end of the day, I don't consider the Far Cry 3 deal "great", but maybe good for some people. But, of course, this is just my opinion. Just wanted to let you know why I disagree with you.
