he 3DS has sold over 9 million units in Japan, sales tracker Media Create has announced. Including sales of the XL model, Nintendo’s portable has accumulated a total of 9,118,000 units.

Media Create also has an update on Wii U. After selling another 127,000 systems between December 10 and December 16, the console has sold roughly 435,000 units in Japan.

Wii U is selling similar to the Wii thus far. Through its first two weeks, Wii moved roughly 436,000 consoles.

Awesome news. Can't say I expected this to happen a few weeks ago. And one must not forget that Nintendo admitted to holding a few titles back in order to spread their releases out throughout the year. This looks very promising.

In Japan and North America the Wii U is selling very well ... in the new year it will be Nintendo's challenge to improve its performance in Europe

Great news for Nintendo, it's clear that the Wii U is only struggling in Europe so hopefully they turn things around over there.

One day nintendo will get away with releasing a console without people crying doom.
