ioi will just have to spend some money and pay private companies to get them. I think they should be seperate from actual sales.

Why should they be separate?  They are both "actual" sales.....Steam sure as hell wasn't built around physical copies of games.  does that make steam a non existent service since they are not "actual" sales?

Not trying t get on to you but explain your reason

The big 3 never give actual numbers just charts showing positions. I wanna know actual numbers. Sonic Adventure 2 has stayed in the top 10 since release. I wanna know its numbers not just position. They should be separate just for viewing sake but still counted in total.

The answer is no, and the reason is simple. The game store clerks that this site gets its information from will never have access to that information, and those that will have access to that information make a hell of a lot more then minimum wage. So they aren't likely to risk their jobs by leaking internal information. Don't shoot the messenger. I think we all suspect that is where the initial figures come from.

I mean, digital sales figures would have to come straight from the horses mouth (i.e. Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Steam etc). And lets be honest, it wouldn't "work" if we just used 1 companies numbers and not another because that only paints a partial picture instead of a whole one.

Somehow NPD has a way of making detailed estimates... though they are a market research company.

I thought NPD only released limited data now. I could be wrong about that though since I haven't really paid attention to NPD for about a year to be honest. :/

Yea I'm not sure about how much they release in regards to digital numbers, but the leaked parts usually at least will give a percentage of revenue spent digitally for the month.
