The real reason why they probably won't copy Nintendo is that the Wuu Pad isn't nearly as compelling as the Wiimote on release. Besides this both Microsoft and Sony have their own options to support similar functionality that they can pursue if they want to, Smart-Glass and Vita compatibility. If the pad really is a 'game-changer' they can easily push their own solution quickly so this isn't a repeat of the Wii where the response from the competitors took four years to come to market.
