Me too just come out with the real game or keep working on it instead of giving us the half version.  Imagine how huge it would be if they came out at E3, showed a tech demo or went over specs, then introduce it like "of course none of these stats mean anything.  We need something we can see with our eyes.  So let's let the most popular Playstation franchise of all time do the talking for us *GT6 demo or trailer*"  then right when the press conference is about to be over "Oh and there's one more game you may be interested in *uncharted song starts up before rolling into trailer of Uncharted 4 or whatever they call it*"

Its an anomoly in that its morally wrong to charge money for a demo, but not only do the fans love it and love PD for it, they buy it in the millions, completely financing the real version before the real version is out. So when you do buy the real game, your spending $100 total instead of 60. No wonder they give so much free DLC, which generate so much love from fans, when it was really financed by the Prologue sales.

It works, and I support business models that work, but the hypocrisy is what gets me.....that in this case, the fans dont mind.

Yeah they pissed off a lot of people this generation.  They took way too long to make GT5 sold a glorifed demo for $40 and both GT5 and GT5P fell short of expectations.  Because of this gen they hurt the brand name of Gran Turismo so this might be a good strategy now but long term success no.  I predict gran turismo's user base to shrink next gen slightly because of this.  Not by a lot but by a mil or 2. So for you to call this a good business plan, I dont see it that way.  You should always plan for now and long term.  Same thing applies to the fable series.  They have hurt it's brand name this gen.

well free DLC is a good way to make up for it but yeah I feel like the actual game would take a lot shorter time to come out if they just focused on it.  I bet there would've been a lot more premium models if they hadn't spent time releasing prologue.

That's a little weird because depending on your point of view the opposite happened.

US: The GT brand name and sales are fine... just in line with the previous titles in PS2 age (GT4... not GT3 because it was for a somegime bundled with every PS3 sold in US).

JP:  It's down... the unique region this gen to show GT brand name and sales declined compared with last gen.

EU:  That's surprise me... it's way ahead any GT game alreasy launch... the GT brand name and sales grow up like no other region (maybe Asia)... it's the fastest selling GT even and it is already near to became the best selling GT ever in Europe with just three years in the market.

Asia: Like Europe that's surprise me... alredy is the best selling GT ever in Asia in less than one year... now the sales is reaching 1 million in this regions (the previous best selling GT sold ~300k)... it amazing how the Asian are supporting this game... that's even make PD and Sony announced a new exclusive edition for this region (based on Spec II, XL and Academy), the GT5 2013 Edtion is to be released in Asia in January.

About the brand name... neves the GT Academy was so popular with live program discussing the finalist by region... everything growed up.

So in terms of sales this game have a change to became the second best selling GT ever and that without Sony give it bundles for Holidays season... this year the games bundles were Uncharted and inFAMOUS... again the GT sales come from normal bundles (just some 500GB model in Europe have this bunble) and normal copies sales.

Except for Japan GT growed up in brand name and sales... not the  opposite.

I ignored most of what you said.  I'm talking about quality not on how much it has sold, not with GT5 and Prologue.  It's like Fable, it has progressively got worst but it sells more than the previous installment.  I think that will change next generation.  People were let down with Fable so they may pass on the next installment, same thing applies with gran turismo.  It is no longer the best racer and it was not up to expectations.  It has improved over time but many of the early adopters will not see that.

GT is GT and it will never change that. The game is the best sim racing in the market what do you expected? It never had the pretension of being the best racer in the market.

I expected the same from GT6... a way better vesion of GT5 with focus in what is important for a sim racing.

GT is not in competition with any other game... it have a solid fan base that which becomes larger every year and sim racing fans prefer GT5 over the others games.... it just don't have the sex appel for racers fans like Need for Speed.

mostly excited for "Next Gen Media Molecule". more uncharted is always welcome. and even though i personally like killzone i feel like sony needs to have GG try something new. that doesn't seem to be taking off and i don't see that changing on the ps4.
