but heres the catch to get the mass market appeal that is around the number they now have to shot for...b/c of the wii being there----if the wii was released at 300 then that would be the comfort zone b/c the average joes would see it that way

ok that i will agree on lol sony and xbox can and theywould love the sales but they wont right now lol
last gen there was a mass market because the 3 systems were VERY close in power, price and everything. now people are willing to pay more because the ps3 and xb360 do more. so thier mass price will be a little different. since they are HD consoles
good thing thats over because i aint do a damn thing at work today but im going home and chillin.

No Leo, price isn't the reason. Perception is.
Wii is perceived as the trendy console, the fun console, the console to get this generation. The PS3 isn't perceived as this.
The reason may originally have been the price of the PS3 being too high but now its image is wrecked by a year and a bit of being in third place. I don't know if it is reparable by any measure.
Another good quote.
Gamecube is also a lesson in this truth. It still is in stock on shelves at $99 U.S. Didn't save it from utter doom in the 6th generation nor is it moving the leftover still on shelves. Luckily it was a profitable despite its weak marketshare.
