HEY YOU! READ THIS: College/University doesn't count as "moving out on your own" if your parents paid for over half of it.

For a while now, I've been wondering what's the average age people become independent or leave home. Unfortunately, after searching the internet, I haven't found much up-to-date info on the matter. So I thought it would be cool to get info from VGCharters. I know this site isn't going to represent the entire population, but I'm still interested nonetheless.

So, when did you leave home or become or become independent?

I was 17 when me and my friend got our first place. That only lasted 6 months. Then I spent the next 3 years or so floating around between my parents house and Korea. Convinced my girlfriend to move to Canada, and we moved to Vancouver when I was...21 I think.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

23 and still ticking.

Which also applies to virginity. Hmm...

Quick question. I'm paying for room and board at uni next semester, but my parents are playing for the school itself. does that count? If so, 21

27 for me, but only because I moved jobs to another state.

Only reason I stayed that long and would have stayed longer was so I could save money for house deposit as houses in Australia are not cheap. In Australia it would not suprise me if the average age when people leave home now (in the last 5 years) is around the 25-30 mark. For those who do not care about owning property and are happy to rent all their lives, probably closer to 18-20.

20 years old and I'm living with my parents. Don't really have plans to move out until I finish college.

I moved out of my parent's house at 19 to live at an apartment they paid for, but on the contingency that I kept all my scholarships (i.e. good grades). That could be seen as a form of payment.

If not, then I bought my home at 21 shortly after graduation and before getting married.
