You paid a lot of extra money to get the system early.  The good news for people who buy it at the (rumored) $299 price point is that they get to play all of the same games you played for much less money. Also, HDMI cables are $4-$6 -- don't pay more for them unless you're getting abnormal lengths or cables for in-wall installation.

So ridiculously unlikely that it's not even worth mentioning. They started off making record losses on every console sold, then probably made a record on the amount of price cuts during the first year, and now another $100 cut?

I'll be eating a mega sized crow if this happens, but I'm not too worried.

And you think they're just going to ignore the red blotches?

 They cut production costs in half. I also dont think they were expecting to be making money on every console this early in to the cycle. They aren't cutting prices in desperation, since they are gaining momentum worldwide, so it wont be seen as that. It will be seen as Sony revising their SKU to bring it in line with competitors, which is what it is.

If its so "ridiculously unlikely" why have analyst been predicting this price cut since before the first one? 

Such a flame-baiting issue that I'm not even going to speculate.

I'm just going to say: January 28th is next week. Let's just wait and see, shall we? This isn't one of those long term, "in four months Sony will drop the price for (insert game here," it's an immediate thing. So rather than call each other stupid, why don't we just dredge this thread back up in seven days?
