Bodhesatva has already posted something about that. If it's really the case that this was a misunderstanding, I wonder about those sites which are repeating the rumour based on their own "internal sources".

BTW, in my previous post I'm talking about the gamerumor.blogspot.com website which was linked to some pages ago in this same thread.

It's quite funny that on one hand, this rumour seems to be based on a misunderstanding, and on the other hand some websites are taking it seriously enough to write so many details about it. If they're making this shit up, what's the purpose really?

On a scale from 1 to 10, I now rank this rumour as "total bullshit".

Come on, a blog created today, which only purpose seems to be to spread a rumor about a price cut? The other only source being an apparent misunderstanding about the credit card promotion that Sony's doing...

If this doesn't warrant the score I gave to the rumour, not much else could. They're probably just looking for some ad revenue (look at the google ads there).

The next quarterly financial report for Sony will be out in a week.

NO, I'm saying that both sources are probably bullshit. The blog I linked to (I got it from the second page of the thread) was created today, as I just realized. The other source, as Bodhesatva said, looks like a misunderstanding about the credit card promotion.

$299 is still expensive I think and at this rate it'll be at 99$ by Christmas.

They won't announce a price cut because they just have announced new bundles in Europe.
They won't do it in NA because they will announce a white PS3.
They have just released a new PS3 bundle in Japan.
