I'd just like to point out that, if Uncharted 3 reaches 6 million copies sold and Gears 3 reaches 6 million sold, we'll look at it as a tie or even a victory for Uncharted 3. On the other hand, Gears will have made MILLIONS more dollars because more people paid for Gears while Uncharted was, in more cases, a nice little bonus that came with the PS3 they bought.

How exactly do bundled games work financially? Do Naughty Dog get anything?

Sony owns Naughty Dog and pays them to make the game, all profits from game Sales go to Sony. (I think)

@d21 Lewis Uncharted 3 will get to 7million anyway! Compared to Uncharted 2 more DLC will have been bought, so not quite as much of a difference as usual.

Off topic but related to DLC does anyone know how much money Sony makes from LittleBigPlanet DLC over the past 4 years there has been a shit ton of it someone must be buying it!

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

Another thing worth mentioning was that the Limited Edition Gears of War 3 bundle launched at $400 and even if Microsoft did decide to bundle Gears 3 next year if will likely be a code, so they wont be any way for VGChartz to track it unless Epic or Microsoft would be willingly to share those kind of numbers.

I'm not crying over that prospect CGI, fed up of shooting at your moving goal posts...

You didn't want to talk semantics and frankly I cannot be bothered showing what you implied only for you to deny you meant that. Played your games enough times to know when its not worth the time and there will be no benefit to me or the thread.

*whistles*

Seems like they'll end up on par in sales considering Gears 3 (and Uncharted 3?) aren't tracked perfectly.

Whether either/both did it by bundles or whether it was all sold within 1.5 or 3 years really doesn't matter.

Must mean you're blowing smoke. Don't mention it if you can't back it up, because all is does it tell me I'm spot on in that the subject matter bothers you more than anything else.

From the beginning, I said Uncharted was at a disadvantage to Gears of War, meaning, it did not start anywhere near as strong. I then said because of that, it makes these sales all the more impressive (never once hinting or claiming it was somehow > Gears).

You made it into something it wasn't.

Now who is being aggressive?

Gears has still sold more than Uncharted which has been Sonys poster child this gen so I don't see what would bother me.

Seems the subject is more important for you.

The reason Uncharted DF sold worse is it is a inferior game to Gears, pure and simple, that's not a disadvantage its supply and demand.  Its not more impressive that its sold well after that when the games improved and frankly it has arguably had more advertising than any games bar GT5, Halo.

microsoft fans can rage all they want. bundles or no bundles, looks like uncharted is going to pass gears of war and when it does, no one but microsoft fans will care how much it was bundled. uncharted is still growing alot.

At this point, there's no way to be certain of that. "Heavy bundling" is also not somethig that will happen outside of the holidays. I think if both (Uncharted 4 & Gears of War 4) launched at the same time, without any bundles, Gears would start substantially stronger (the demographics on the Xbox is quite loyal to the 360's top IPs), but the end result would be close, possibly with Gears still edging out the win.

But like I said, no way to know that anymore.

Gears of War judgement should give you a indicator...
