Did you read the FDA letter? Its not just those statements. They also tried to say that the walnuts would have to be classified as a drug. Pretty crazy if you ask me and makes me wonder about the sanity of a government agency that would think wal nuts are a drug.

As for the other stuff, they just are plain stupid that seem to like to make life more difficult. Stuff like cheap, meltdown proof nuclear reactors, medicinal drugs (eg marijuana) and long range wifi have no reason to be illegal anywhere! Way to make people rely more on increasingly expensive oil, stupidly expensive healthcare and shitty mobile internet! These laws are just so so stupid, especially as no one is harmed.

I have experience with the EPA so I understand this article. Good intentions do not equal good outcomes.

Yes, taken completely out of context that is absolutely crazy.  What they were saying is that given the claims of Diamond Nuts, walnuts would have to be classified as a drug.  If you then look at what Diamond Nuts put in its advertising, you would see that there was no direct research to any of their claims that walnuts provide those health benefits.

I don't have a problem with the letter from the FDA.  A company should not be able to make claims to the health benefit of a product unless it's been tested and proven.  You don't go around saying fish oil, which contains Omega 3 Fatty Acids, help prevented breast cancer in a Japanese study and then try to suggest walnuts will help preven breast cancer because they contain Omega 3 Fatty Acids.  It's a HUGE jump to assume that Omega 3 Fatty Acids were the reason the people in the study didn't get breast cancer.  Likewise, there's no context as to how much O3FAs were received from fish oil or from walnuts.   

This is a poorly written, uninformed article.  If you believe half of what is written in it than you're gonna likely increase your ignorance.

Blogs are opinions.  Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.  Has the writer done a LOT better research and fact checking, it might have been a better atricle, but it's rather uninformed and pedestrian.  If you ask me.
