Who cares....?

In the span of one year, BigBig, Zipper Interactive, ThatGameCompany exclusive contract not reniewed, Relentless software dropped exclusivity, and now Sony Liverpool.

Who cares indeed.....until another studio gets shut down that is.

I was threatened for being reported but I am genuinely still waiting for someone to tell me how this is relevant to me as a gamer.

How will my ps3, psp, psvita, ps move, wonder book and ps4 get affected ?

Sony will cut the studios that dont make a profit. They allready have and will continue to do so. PS3 may be profitting, but that doesnt make it immune to trimming the fat so to speak.

This applies to you because Sony cant take out a loan to buy studios or buy another company like Gaikai.....the interest alone makes it impossible.

Not surprising by this news or by who's posting it.

Wish Sony the best. Panasonic too! Funny that I got a PS3 which is a Sony product, and a Panasonic Plasma TV :D

Financial situation doesn't matter. Any company would do this. It's just common sense.

Financial situation plays a factor. This whole gen Sony has been content just churning out random exclusives. Only now are they seeing if they are worth the effort.

I'm a Sony critic, and I disagree with this. I think Sony's lineup of exclusives taken as a whole has been fantastic this gen and one of this gen's saving graces, most people would agree.

What's wrong with their exclusives?

Nono, quality wise I aint arguing. Its the sales of said exclusives. 2012 alone is a doozy for unprofitable PS3 exclusives, regardless of quality.

I think people here saying "thats it then for Sony" are over stating things.

Whilst this is the latest in the line of bad happenings, it isn't the final nail by any stretch.

Some decent numbers over the next year or so and these ratings will change.

I have always said the future Sony is a very different beast that the past. It will be smaller and leaner. It will specialise. I think they will sell off some software assets like movies perhaps in time. The recent music buy ups are already proving troublesome so they may move away from that too in time. Perhaps it is a case of Software or hardware... make your mind up time Sony?

Well said.

Anyway, if BB- is classed as "junk", what the hell is C classed as?

Shame to hear about Panasonic too.

Not sure how well this reflects a company's prospects, but wasn't Iceland put in a "junk" group not so long ago? No surprise that I had to sell my house and be content with the igloo in the backyard

Iceland defaulted and didn't pay its debts on time. That's why it was considered junk, and that's why Sony is considered junk, because there is a high possibility of non paying its debts.

Iceland didn't pay because they didn't owe anything. It was just the UK trying to push the little country around with hilarious results.

That's not what the IMF thinks, or your own government. You know your banks are paying, right? Better late than never.
