Hey lewis, did you see this?..saw this on gaf, apparently this is the battery inside the gamepad

It´s ridiculous, only 1500mAh..yeah it improves the weight etc..but still, I wonder how long it´ll take for them to release an improved gamepad with a better battery life.

I bet a third party is making a much better battery as we speak.  Probably be released in the next three months.

Thanks for the pic, though.   I was wondering how battery replacement would work.  I was worried that it would be like the PS3 where you can't replace the battery.  My Dual Shock 3 won't hold a charge for very long so I pretty much play wired.  Replaceable battery FTW!

Anyhoo, two hours before I hit the road.  I'm gonna watch The Walking Dead and then, it's Wii U time!

Hmm even the vita has a 2200mAh battery...

OT: For me as a Wii only gamer, the Wii U is a significant technological leap over the last gen system I played (i.e. the Wii).

As for the other two, I dont know and do not care.

In your mind you are overestimating what the next gen will be.

Look at Star wars 1313 PC footage. Thats what next-gen is. I'm pretty sure the Wii U can handle it, even if in a lesser degree.

Reasons why:
1. Graphics are reaching the maximum detail that can be perceived by the human eye and brain.
2. Theres a global crisis, buying power has declined, consumers are not willing to pay as much for gaming systems (high-end parts are expensive).
3. In an atempt to gather more sales, companies are tapping into a more casual gamer with devices as kinect, move, Wii gamepad, etc. These will come bundled to ensure the user base has great acess to them and stimulate development with them in mind. This raises the cost of the overall product.
4. Development costs would skyrocket with very powerful machines. The games would be few and alot more expensive than current ones. This is not good for the market because of 2.

For these reasons, next gen wont be the kind of leap we have grown used to, and i still believe Nintendo made a genius decision and has jumped ahead of the competition. We will know for sure when we see the new games for the Xbox720/PS4 and the Wii U.

It can barely run Black ops 2 and Arkham city so that statement is false.

Barely?

By your logic, the PS2 could barely run Dreamcast ports.  The PS3 could barely run Skyrim.  Looking at the start of this gen and playing those games (I have Kameo, Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter, Call of Duty 2, and Perfect Dark Zero--played all of them in the last six months), it almost looks like those games are from a different generation.  Oni on the PS2 doesn't look like it even belongs on the same console that spawned God of War.  We are judging too quickly, I think.

The Wii U is using DDR3-800 ram in the system. Basically Intel Nehalem used this back in 2007 for system CPU not for video.Do you expect the likes of Unreal engine 3 to be recoded for a CPU and video ram that's slower than 7 year old consoles? This means the Wii U has half the ram of the 360.

Umm batman uses unreal engine3.

btw it being clocked lower doesn't mean it is weaker where do you people get this stuff?

one thing it does not mean the wii-u is half the ram of xbox360. Do people come into topics like this and claim to know what they thinking because everyone is doing the same?

it's a bit of a touchy subject but in truth it is to bring nintendo only users up to speed with HD and online gaming/streaming/shopping and stuff i'd think, much needed

of course it has better tech than a 360/PS3 surely and the gamepad looks excellent,i'm not too sure where we are expecting to go in graphical leaps from where we are on consoles without paying a premium price right now or if it's really needed, things look pretty good from where i am and the WiiU will look better in time and the prospects of co-ops/multiplayers in the rpg worlds look great to me

i have a mid range PC too,i'm not trying to criticise here just seeing it from my point of view

Umm problem even he said that doesn't mean anything by being lower in sspeed

"That doesn't sound like a lot (it's the same amount of memory bandwidth on the Nexus 10 and iPad 3/4), but the Wii U is supposed to have a good amount of eDRAM for both the CPU and GPU to use. Also keep in mind that the Nexus 10 and iPad 3/4 have to drive much higher resolutions than the Wii U does."

neo also said that Nintendo everything to work perfectly with each other with ram. The ram hasn't yet been a problem with developers.

you also forget some chips that lower  clocked become more efficient based on low latency is always a very very good thing if a developer gets there hands on this and learn the secrets of the wii-u you can get what the developer who created neo assault said are amazing visuals.
