FFX-2: Legend of Suck

It's didn't suck that much (I thought battle system was quite good)....although it was one of the cheesiest games ever.

I prefer the 'newer' style, I guess but then that's only because my first was FF7 which had the newer style.

Hmm, pie.

The roots version is easely my choice

I would have said roots is more 1-6 & 9 because it stays true to the original. FF 7, 8 and everything after is what changed it all (7 being futuristic with scientific experimentation etc).

FFVI says it all

I perfrer 1-6. I still don't understand why people like 7. That was a prime case of using technology just because it's available when you really shouldn't. I've seen Atari games with better art direction and poorly translated anime with better plots.

6 i'd say wasn't old school though so much as the translation from the roots to the new version, what with the steam punk tech outside of Airships. Sure the earlier Final Fantasies had tech too(even 1)... but these were regulated to small dungeons of past great tech empires long since fallen.

Oddly enough the Final Fantasy games seemed to of lost all their humor and most of their personality when they got rid of the midget characters too. I don't know why.

You and I are in the same boat on that one Kasz216. I despise FFVII and for the life of me I cannot understand the fascination with it. I really tried to like that game but it has virtually no redeeming qualities. The only think I like about FFVII is that it reduced the reluctance of other publishers to bring their JRPGs to the west.

I'm an oddball in that I don't associate my liking to any particular "era" of FF. I like the old games and the new games, and there are a few on both sides that rubbed me the wrong way.

My least favorite of the SNES titles was FFIV, I was sometimes frustrated by the battle system and thought some of the plot "twists" were absurd, like all the melodrama where you're made to think each and every one of your party members "died" at some point only for them to come back later with a little "I'm not dead yet!" and rejoins your party. There was also that part at the top of the Tower of Babel when you're about to get the crystals when Cecil falls down a trapdoor, shrugs, and walks away. Seriously, a trap door?

I think FFVII is hugely overrated but still better than FFVIII (the worst), even Mystic Quest is better than that game. I actually liked X2 better than X because it actually had a good battle system. I'm also one of 5 people here that liked FFXII.

I honestly like both, they both do a fine job of telling a story. I'd like them to re-visit the "roots" a bit more though, I want flying castles, and airships, and worldmaps with chocobos :P, but were due for another Cyber-punk adventure I think.

8 was Cyberpunk

9 was roots,

10 was cyber

12 was roots

13.....

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Seven was my favorite, but twelve is also my favorite. I think I love Final Fantasies in general. I've played all of them, and I like all of them, with VII and XII being my favorites. Maybe I only like ones with the II after the first symbol. So theoretically, the next one I will like will be XVII.
