Acer just announced a new Chromebook model, the C7, a $200 laptop running Google's Chrome OS.  This is cheaper than $50 of the next cheapest model, and should take more marketshare away from MSFT, from the netbook portion of the market.  The advantage of a netbook is that the chips needed for just running a browser are very inexpensive, and while processing power surges ahead, the power needed to run a simple browser will grow very slightly over the years, thus ensuring that the prices for these contraptions will get cheaper over the years as die shrinks take effect.

Both inferior and paradoxically more expensive than the 16GB of flash on other Chromebooks.

They could have balanced this out a lot better, trading Intel for cheaper and lower-power ARM and HDD for flash.

-it can do more things online, i.e use business apps and google enterprise

I think that as more people are starting to use the business apps, that google will continue to work on the apps project and improve them even more, hopefully giving microsoft more competition with MS Office

This one is low end.... its better to get the Samsung one for $250. Far better product with twice the battery life.

Sure, but a lot of people are going to want something on the lower end scale, so this solves that want.
