It is Soul Calibur, the least respected fighting game series there is. There is more competition and respect in Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion then Soul Calibur. Seriously though that is really impressive. I have met a couple really talented female gamers. I know Evo even has a women's event for Street Fighter. If I had a daughter I would definitely try to get her interested in competitive video games.

To the matter at hand though, females are not gamers. You can not make exception regardless of what genre they play. It only leads to the further dumbing down of the games we love in order to appeal to the masses. I agree casual gamers are the bane. We do not want the industry to grow or become mainstream. Casuals only want to play cheap knockoff, movie tie in, or carnival games. They have no desire for a means of entertainment that requires thought and skill. Allowing casuals to enter the gaming industry will be the death of the industry. Mark my words, companies will find the casual market large and lucrative. They will develop everything they can to appeal to this market. Sure, the games will be fun for the first 15 minutes, but ultimately they will be lacking in any depth. These games will likely have poor controls, camera issues, and may even be unplayable. Game companies will forget how to make a good game. There will never be another Halo, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, or Forza. All that will be left will be Carnival Games, Super Zumba with Honey Boo Boo, and Wii like to Move sports. No, now is the time for "real gamers." We must perserve the artistic and entertainment value of the industry we love so much. We must continue to push developers into a graphical arms race. We must continue to purchase and worship every numerical sequel to our favorite franchises. For this is in the best interest of the industry and ourselves.
