Forums - Gaming - "Good" games that are just boring

i agree with super paper mario being really boring. i also have paper mario 64 and that is also really boring. its a sad attempt to continue what square did with super mario rpg. the paper mario games are just so incredibly easy and simple they appear to be made for 6 year olds. although when i was 6 i was playing games like dragon warrior so really paper mario seems like its made for 6 year olds who only play really simplistic games. i just don't understand why they made those games so kiddy. i played a few hours into both paper mario 64 and super paper mario and both were just too boring for me to go any further.

in the first one there is just no depth to the rpg elements and the battles are so simplistic its not even fun. in the most recent one the 3D environments are so empty and so that if you have to switch to 3D to get by something there is absolutely no challenge you just press A to switch and just stroll on by whatever was blocking your way in the 2D landscape.

Also all GTA games. My roommate had Vice City and it was fun for about a week and then you just run out of fun things to do its just the same thing over and over and its so boring. the last time I played GTA3 it took all of about 2 minutes before I had to turn it off because it was just so boring. i think the GTA and paper mario games are the only games i've ever played that are considered by most to be "good" but are just downright terrible and boring as anything.

The Wind Waker, just because of the Quest for the Triforce Shards. The rest of the game was excellent.

For me I'd say Super Paper Mario is the best example. It doesn't really do anything wrong and is a solid RPG/Platformer, but I just find it so boring that I still have not finished it.

The only part of the game that didn't make me fall asleep was World 3, the Bitlands. I thought that entire portion of the game was absolutely fantastic and brilliant, but it was followed by what is possibly the most boring area in any Mario game, World 4, the space world.

But yeah, overall SPM is very boring for me and that's the reason I've been on 5-3 for like months now. Everytime I go to play it I remember how boring it is and stop.

But what about you? What do you think is a good game, but it's just too boring for you to play?

Its funny you mention SPM, I would say SMG is good but boring. I still havn't played it again since getting my third big star.

I think the 360 achievement system kind of spoiled me, I now feel I need a reason to play video games... except for Wii Sports which i just play for fun... crap does that sound like I might be getting to old to play video games??

Ultima 8. It was fun exploring things, but the game is not very clear on what you have to do to progress. When I finally discovered what to do I realized that I accidentally got rid of a important item and had to restart the game. Call it realism, I think it is stupid to be able to get rid of key items.

I thought I was the only one who thought that about Majora's Mask. That damn timer ruined it for me. Plus, it followed Ocarina of Time, the second best game of all time (and greatest game ever, back in 2000). Majora's Mask is the definition of disappointment.

Completely agree about Super Paper Mario. That space level annoyed me to no end. I think I got 3/4 through the game before I completely lost interest, which is a shame because there are some very nifty parts in the game. You know. Burried under the tedious boredom.

Assassins Creed is a boring freaking game,

I cant believe so much people think that way about Majoras...
For me it is by far the best Zelda game. I always loved it because its like everything no other Zelda game ever was.
I also think the time limit put a lot more of pressure and interest in the quest.
I hope someone think the way I do about Majoras...
Paper Mario 1 & 2 are not boring to me, unless certain parts in the GC game.
Silent Hill`s, except for the first one tendo to bore me a lot, same thing I can say about allmost any survival-horror game, except for REmake (I dont count RE4 as survival-horror)

I knew it was a short game but it was shorter than I expected

Hate to say it, but Super Paper Mario is my biggest disappointment for this generation so far. I was looking forward to it a lot, the 2D / 3D sounded genius - now I stopped playing after two thirds. Probably not going to finish it. It's just boring, tedious, feels slow and annoying. Mario controls like it's a flash game. I mean, I wasn't the biggest fan of the other 2 Paper Marios, but this is definitely worse. Shame.

But it boggles my mind what some of you said about Majora's Mask. It's probably my favourite game ever. You know you can slow down the timer and turn back time later? The timer is necessary for the fantastic and complex side quests. It's a completely new and unique concept, and I love it.
Granted, the overworld is a bit smaller than OoT's... but there's still lots of exploration, and you gain a whole new dimension: Time!
Well, I guess you like it or you don't, Nintendo was definitely willing to take some risks and innovate.
