Forums - Nintendo - Club Nintendo doesn't know its Wii U coin values

If you are a loyal Nintendo fan then you will no doubt know that Club Nintendo, but for those of you who don't it is a great loyalty program that gets you nice little Nintendo items for buying and registering your games for coins. On the site there are 4 ways to earn coins: register a game, register a console, buy a game between launch to 4 weeks, and register a game that you intend to buy.

If you go on the site now, you will notice that you can register Wii U games for the intend to buy coins and doing so will get you the extra coins once you register the game. Once I finsihed doing my intend to buy surveys I came to ponder, what amount of coins will Wii U games give and, even more important, how many coins do you get when registering the Wii U? I sent an email to Club Nintendo asking if they could tell me the coin values if possible. The email that I recieved was a little surprising. The representative told me that at that time, they do not know the values.

With less than two weeks away from the launch of their next console I find this a little confusing as to why they have not released (or determined) the coin values yet for the games and console, but hopefully they will announce them sooner than later.

Probably 50+10 like Wii releases were.

Yes, or 1000 for hardware 250 for games if you're in Europe.

I don't see why they would change it. Maybe they'll give the games a little more though since they're more expensive, but I don't think so.
Strange that they wouldn't just say it.

I didn't know you could get coins for games you intend to buy! I've thrown away so much money. I already have Platinum status for next year and over 1000 coins. Could have been more.

I don't think this works for all games though. I don't know exactly, never tried this.

Coins are always relative to being new or older.

3DS is $169... coins are 160
DSi is $99.. coins are 100

Wii is $149... coins are 160

I'd expect when WiiU launches that we'll see
Wii coins drop to 100
WiiU coins to be 160 (i.e. its new coin level for new consoles)

Games will likely remain 50 each plus the bonuses.

You were basically right Superchunk. Wii U is 160 and games are 60. At least Nintendo is giving some extra coins for people who buy the deluxe version since Nintendoland doesn't have a code in the deluxe.

Guess I'll hit platinum again this year.
