Forums - Gaming - Samsung Galaxy S III keeps the top spot in British smartphone market in October

I don't know anything about the website, but I do know that iPhone released well over a month ago. It had all of October. And since you say it's not tracking sales, but searches and deals, it makes iPhone 5 being supply constrained a non-factor or even a positive factor on the amount of searches.

lol I looked at the calendar and saw October.

The site ranking show the popularity based in live searches, pre-orders and sales in this site (redirected to partners)... how can you say a phone sold more than another based in the internet popularity???

That's just low even for Galaxy fans.

It's because every iPhone owners knows the galaxy SIII is a better cooler phone that's worth the money. while the iPhone 5 is just a slightly better version of the 4s and the 4s is just a slightly better version then the iPhone 4

As an iPhone owner apple need to step it up, or lower there prices.

The iPhone 5 is just as powerful as the Galaxy in a package around 2/3rds the size of Samsung's flagship. I consider that "stepping it up" quite a bit.

If you're talking about iOS, then I somewhat agree but hardware-wise, the iPhone 5 is the best thing going right now.

The masses are finally waking up to the realisation that Apple make overpriced rubbish.

This is good news.

The S3 is better technically than the iPhone 4S but not the iPhone 5.

But hey it's good the Samsung is selling well, even though the iPhone 5 is hard to come by.

I know someone who just managed to get it today and ordered it pretty much around the time of launch.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Not gonna spin, I didn't see that coming. Here's hoping it's supply constrained cuz I am an Apple fanboy and this affects my mood!

I don't understand this thinking. Why does it matter if your phone sells the most? Just as long as the phone is popular enough to receive solid third party app support, does it really matter who "wins" after that?

I bought an iPhone because it served my needs better than any other phone out there (small package but still top-shelf hardware). The branding on the box doesn't matter to me past the fact that it meant I could run all the iPad apps I bought (well, most anyway) and all my old iPhone apps I purchased in 2008-09.

You'll be a much happier consumer if you disavow allegiance to companies and instead buy whatever product most fits your needs.

lol, I guess I am not good with sarcasm. That was a total joke.

And yeah, I have iphone 4 and I want to upgrade and I am heavily leaning towards the i5 just because of the many apps I bought over the past 2 years and ofc because it's sexy! If no other smartphone changes my mind in the upcoming few months I'll get the i5.

Is your white or black? is the "easily scratchable" issue as big as the internet makes it sound?

Oh yes, I was talking about OS the iPhone 5 is powerful but the iOS has become a bit boring and dated

Galaxy S3 is a better phone so this shouldn't be news... Haha!

I have a white one, my fiancee has a black one. We both use cases so I can't really comment on the scratching issue. So far, both phones are in immaculate condition.

I don't mean to take away from the SIII's success, but is the iPhone 5 supply constrained in the UK?

I live in the US and I've been trying to get my hands on an iPhone 5 for literally (no exaggeration here) 2 months and still no luck. Apple/Verizon have zero in stock and you need to order them in advance.

iPhone 5 is supply constrained everywhere. 3-4 weeks shipping in both US and UK if you buy from Apple (who will ship it straight from China).

Also, these numbers are just one region, just one month, and since these guys are breaking down phones by SKU, it's worth noting that SGS3 will be split between four SKUs (2 colours, two storage tiers) while iPhone 5 is split by six (2 colours, 3 tiers).

Are the white Galaxies and iPhones really that far behind Blue/Black? They're not even on the chart.

Odd, isn't it?

Also, I just noticed this line from the artcile:

according to the latest uSwitch.comMobile Tracker which is based on live searches, pre-orders and pay monthly sales.

WTF, live searches? They're basing this list partly on freakin' web searches?

And that's when I realized that we aren't talking about the UK, we're talking about phone contract sales on a single goddamn web site where UK citizens can compare the best offers and save!

Edit: As ethomaz already pointed out and the whole thread is conveniently ignoring.

Finally somebody read the entry news... this site tracks POPULARITY (in that only site) and not SALES.

The site itself is based in deals comparisons...

lol lol lol
