Probably not what you mean, but Metal Gear Solid 3. I never cried so hard after finishing a game and I blame it all on how well the music adds to the emotion.

Pengo, Bubble Bobble and Duke Nukem 3D.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

Demon's Souls I everytime you great into a boss fight epic music starts playing and it really gets your heart pumping. Hell even the music in the Nexsu is really good. Its clam and relaxing makes you feel really comfortable before your torment begins.

I agree with this. I never really recognized it before, but the boss music does integrate nicely into the game. I would also second what other people said about Shadow of the Colossus, particularly how the music kicks in with the bosses.

Fez, Child of Eden, AudioSurf, Zelda games and obviously all music rhythm or dance games.

Definitely also Loom, one of the pioneers of music integrated into gameplay ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc4TKXyAaNA ).

Most probably also Sigma Harmonics ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWr_V9qQeyY ), but thanks to Square-Enix we'll never know.

 I'm dissappointed that nobody said Vib Ribbon... You could even use your own Music CDs to create levels.. and that on the ps1!!

That's probably because
a) 500 people on planet earth know this game, 5 people on planet earth remember this game.
b) most people posting here (interestingly incl. the thread creator) didn't take the thread title as literally as you, me and two or three others.

Music? Gameplay? Seriously, it's ridiculous to suggest anything other than a rhythm game.

I think maybe you actually meant to ask which game wove music most effectively into its narrative, or perhaps experience.

Well, it is Sega, they make possible the ridiculous.

Bonus: Mr. Bones was the previous holder of this title.

@kain_kusanagi: They're young...

These days quite a lot of games do it superbly, but for me, one of grand-daddies of dynamic soundtracks will always be fondly remembered - Tie Fighter (PC)
