8/10 is mediocre? lmao! In what universe? 8.5/10 is considered "great" by any respected reviewer out there, and it's honestly just what I expected from NSMBU. Mediocre is more like 5/10, and decent is 6/10. In my experience, any game rated above a 7.0(in one of my preferred genres) is bound to be an enjoyable experience. Hell, there are even some 6.0 rated games that I like.

Tired of ppl overdramatizing over 8s/10.

8/10 is good. If I had 8/10 I would be satisfied. Ppl need to stop thinking that a game needs to have a 9.5 to be worth buying. Assassin's Creed and Darksiders 2 are both rated in the mid 80s on Gamerankings. Were they both bad games too? Last Story is rated 78% on gamerankings, I believe it deserves to be in the 80s, but 78% or 85%, fact is that imo it was no where near a bad game.

Also, this is Nintendo Land for god's sakes. What did you expect? This is Wii U's wii sport. It's supposed to be nothing else other than a fun clever game to play with friends and a 8/10 speaks this way. As for NSMBU, the first NSM games were also rated in the 80s, NSMB2 in the 70s. Were these all bad games?

As for Zombi U, I expect it to be great, I expect in to also be in the mid 80s and I won't over dramatize that score when I see it cause I'll know it will mean its good. If it's in the 90s I would be pleasantly surprised.

why are people taking 8/10 as mediocre? that is a solid game in my books... mediocre is more of 6/10

Automatic maximum was 8 because it has wii remote controls (-1point ) and because gfx not as good as 360/PS3 (-1 point), Than points went down from there.


Also medicore is somewhere around the 6 mark. Bad is below 5.

Mediocre for Nintendo is set at 80 because the bar is so high when you're the previous generations winner, people come to expect nothing but greatness and 90's for Nintendo games. By this reasoning, a lot of popular games are mediocre by metacritic score like inFamous, Killzone 3, Fallout New Vegas, Borderlands, Darksiders 1 & 2, Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Mortal Kombat, Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2, Resistance, Far Cry 2, God Of War Origins Collection, etc. etc.

Hopefully nobody wastes their time playing mediocre games metascored under 88.

Uh oh NSMB Wii U better not be another recycled game. I'd be so angry at Nintendo.

Well after seeing that Halo 4 has a 20/100 on one review on metric, than WiiU games with 8 out of 10 must be masterpieces.

Launch games being between 80 and 90 is perfectly reasonable imho. Reviewers know they need room to apropriatly score the next 3D Mario and Zelda.

Edit: I hope ZombiU can crack the 80 mark, I have a feeling critics will be very very harsh on it concerning graphics.

I don't think it's custom since they use Sonic 2 font for boss-screens^^
