I completely admit, the only thing I'll be feeling on December 22nd is a sense of schadenfreude and some Christmas spirit on the side. There are a surprising number of people who still believe that the 21st will be the end of all things or perfect enlightenment and what not, but I'll just sit there and read news stories about the people who were 'shocked' that nothing happened.

"I just don't know what happened," they'll say, with the glazed look in their eye of a man who just sold all of his possessions or abandoned his home and work to go join other Doomsayers.

I'm all for people who follow their dreams and what not, but I have to say I feel amused by the dream crushing of people who WANT to see the world burst into flames and what not, because I would prefer not to get caught up in that Armageddon stuff. I have things to do still.

the legendary @Talon emerges from the shadows. i'm still a big fan. i use to always look for your avy before posting.

anyway, the mayans couldn't count pass Dec. 21 2012. or they just died before they could write the calender for the new yr.

Most likely, paranoia related to this date will hit the public and we're gonna hear and read about mass suicides here and there.
...and 9 months later, we'll be hearing about baby booms.

Put it this way... if anything news worthy happens on that date, I'll give my entire gaming collection, including every console and game I've ever owned, away to a random member of this forum.

Be prepared to give away your collection, something newsworthy is bound to happen that day, in fact it happens most days! Religious nuts will know about the day and proabably do something stupid, like build a boat made of all Scientific publications related to Global warming, Evolution, and stem cell research.

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

The real question is this. Do I buy the missus a birthday present? Her birthday is 21st December so do I save my money cuz there will be no need to buy her a present cuz we will be dead. However if I dont buy her a present she will kill me. Its a tough call. What do you guys think?

You should spend extra on her this year just in case A proposal would be a good idea :D

Nice try my love. Nice try. How about a gift card instead?

I believe researchers have said that the Mayan's never accounted for leap-year, so the supposed 2012 incident should've already happened regarding accurate time.

I was talking to someone today about this (briefly) and they said that with the differences between our current calendar and the mayan calendar, such as things like leap years, "December 21" by the Mayan calendar actually occurred a few months ago. I didnt check the validity of this claim but it does make sense. 12/21/12 will be like Y2K

That is just some internet BS some guy started because he didn't understand calanders. The Mayan calander doesn't have leap years but it didn't need them because a year was not just 365 days long. Anyway the date is correct and corresponds with three things. It is not just a random time when they stopped writing.

1. Shortest day of the year

2. The Earth, Sun, and center of the galaxy are perfectly aligned

3. The Earth is at the bottom of a rift valley

Do these mean the end of the world? No, but they are pretty good signs at how smart the Mayans were.
