China has the one of the fastest growing economy in the world. If Sony builds brad recognition now than they will have a loyal fan base in the future.

I disagree. Sony needs every penny it can get it's hands on. If there is a dollar to be made in China - not saying there is or isn't - but Sony needs it.

If it turns out there is no money there, tough luck. If there is .....Either way Sony needs to know.

The consoles are made there anyway so they should at least cut down on shipping cost.

Im sorry but im gonna say no. Theyre already preoccupied with free pirated games. I doubt they will pay for a console that needs you to pay for a machine and disks.

I been buying PS3 games from China for years (they are cheaper), anyone who wanted a PS3 in China probably bought it already from the grey market.

I doubt VgChartz would even track these Chinese sales. But the Chinese market alone could be the reason the PS3 reaches 2nd place. I doubt Sony would put much marketing efforts into it though, piracy is a huge problem over there.

Many southeast asian countries have these electronic products what they call 'China' which are clones of their respective immitated brands.

Also, these countries are mainly online gaming due to Online cafe available to them. I thought console gaming was banned in China? Has it been lifted?
