At least they're not losing money anymore.

I thought they still lossed 122 million or something?

122 million is pocket money for Sony, and it's definitely an improvement over the billions they lost in previous quarters.

Game division was up $29 million, I believe they lost $45 million last quarter.  Since the article mentions 'game units' in the title, I'd hazard a guess that's what he's referring to.

The money lost was from the Vita not the PS3 or PS2

Did they post separate profits/losses from each of their individual systems?  If they did, could you give me the link to that information?

I could fully believe that, no doubt.  But I don't see what it has to do with my post.  Going off the other thread (I have no idea if they information is correct, and am unsure how to research it myself), the game division profitted $29 million this quarter after losing $45 million last quarter.  Which systems made the profit and which made a loss is interesting, sure, but I was talking about the games division as a whole.

Sony attributed the downturn to "lower" sales of PlayStation 3 and PSP hardware and software, though the company said this was partially offset by contributions fromPlayStation Vita. Additionally, profits were down due to the slower sales, as well as "unfavorable" foreign exchange rates.

I don't know for a fact but that would be my main guess.  Either way Sony needs to stop losing money

Last year Sony stuffed the channel with 3.7m PS3 shipped... so in the next quarter have to shipped lass than normal... so this time they did the right choice, shipped ~2.7m PS3 and now I'm expecting a better Q3 than last year.

The first line of that quote is referring to shipments of consoles, not profits.  It doesn't really say anything about Vita contribution to losses, at least not explicitly.

And yes, I agree with you.  But again, nothing to do with my post.  I'm talking purely about the game division, which has apparently just posted a profit.

The game division profited. The loss in the article is referring to Sony overall, which lost almost 200m

I believe I may have chose my words poorly. I was talking about the vita and sony over all.  They need to stop losing money.

why would that make ps3 stop outselling 360 and wii?

It wouldn't stop it outselling them but it would take it down a peg.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Some people still believe that Vita has been selling at profit since release.
