EYO ITS YO UNCHARTED BRO ALDRO HEWE
xD I was at a swedish game convention and got my hands on Ascension (as well as All Stars with all chars [jizz]) and Halo 4 even. Anyway, I wanna talk a bit about Ascension and its SP.
So at first when I got into that little booth in the corner, Kratos face was halfly shown in the camera just like GoW3. Its basically the E3 demo (yknow the one with the elephant and tentacle rape shit) but holy fuck dat graphics xD. Like Kratos looks really good. Im not too sure if I prefer this or GoW3 version of him (hes far more bulky in GoW3 and yknow ripped) but the graphics in term of colour and lightning is far more ..vibrant (?) i suppose. I like it, it feels fresh. And if the GoW3 demo is any indication of the difference between the full game and the build I saw, then holy fuck.
Anyhow moving on, the gameplay is largely the same but it feels as if Kratos is somewhat faster. The weapons you pick up are added to the circle....
you know what? fuck this.
I enjoyed it very much and th ebiggest awesome shit was the R1 tether thing (you can tether one of ur blades to another guy and then attack others or him and throw him around). With that said: It still.. feels a lot like GoW. Almost a little too much like GoW xD. I dont mind it at all, but based of the SP being a prequel and unless they have any huge ass plot regarding future games in the series, then I am very very scared that this game might be seen as ..more of the same and not in a good way. I am hoping the MP is very good because the SP doesnt convince me of the quality I loved in GoW3. Its far too early to tell since we havent seen anything else but it looks and plays well. I just hope the reason we are playing it is more than that of just slicing similar to all other GoWs (not that I dont like the gameplay because I do, but I just want something to motivate me and something as simple as wanting to fuck Zeus worked in GoW3 as I didnt know the outcome but here I feel like I do).
Tl:dr =>
Looks and plays great. But sceptical on story and feel it might not get so much praise unless the MP prooves to be VERY good.

You just sound pessimistic to me. And what's with all these cries for change recently, you're a hideously obsessive Uncharted fan so how would you feel if Uncharted 4 released and was completely different? You wouldn't be happy.
A franchise only continuously stays successful and lasts as long as God of War has and will go on due to its evolution, for example if the revolutionised the gameplay in GoW after a couple of games no matter how good it is it will cause mass outrage and alienate most of the previous fans, sure it could still do well critically but gamers will not give a shit about that when their favourite franchise has lost its identity.
You played a 10 minute chunk of combat and platforming focused gameplay based on a very old build of the game, you have no reason to be sceptical of a story you know next to nothing about. Why wouldn't it get praised, have you forgotten that there's 5 other critically acclaimed God of War games, if critics were going to start being harsh for it being 'more of the same' they would have been already once the 3rd game (chains of olympus) released. And the multiplayer has been commonly praised and we've only seen 1 game type and 1 map so if the majority of people like it now, they're in for a treat when the entirety of the multiplayer component is revealed.
And regarding this comment "when I think of GoW3 I think of the BEST parts with that insane scale and really greatly detailed kratos whereas I put the bad parts (eg. the Hair of certain characters and the whole Labyrinth section) in the dark."
1) The hair is obviously not meant to look realistic, it is meant to appear heavily stylised. It looks great and I prefer stylised realism to generic looking characters and settings that require no imagination to create and end up looking crap because they're trying to look realistic when it's not yet possible to make games look convincingly realistic.
2) And how the hell did the Labyrinth section look bad? Do you have cataracts? It looks amazing, easily better than anything in UC3 and a least it had style, you seem to be more impressed by a lifeless desert, lol.
3) So you're saying that only the big scale sections were impressive? That's bullshit right there, the game looks flawless 99% of the time. God of War III easily has the best graphics on consoles imo, only Killzone 3 comes close and maybe Halo 4 does but I'll have to try it first but I doubt that game will. Uncharted 2 looks really dated now and has been surpassed by tons of games and Uncharted 3 whilst being one of the better looking games only looked great 80% of the time. I always see you praise ND/ Uncharted solely for the graphics and it's gotten to the point where your delusion prohibits you from complimenting other games visuals and even has you try to wrongly call some parts of GoW3 bad as if the Uncharted games aren't full of hideous moments and say that God of War: Ascension isn't looking as good as GoW3 when it's clearly got better lighting and animation and it's a really early demo that was rushed to be playable at E3 so the final game will easily be the best looking game for the PS3 by default.
God of War: Ascension is going to be amazing, the graphics, sound, story and gameplay is going to be the best in the series. This game represents the biggest evolution for the series between any of the games introducing so many new mechanics and of course the fantastic and genre defining multiplayer mode. God of War: Ascension will be another a critically acclaimed monster hit... (and it doesn't need Sony's biggest marketing campaign and 1+ years of mass bundles to sell over 5 million).
