Meanwhile 7 games over the past 5 years that are Top 5 havent even been available outside of the PS3 area.

Top GOTYs tend to be more frequent on the PS3 pretty much which could also nearly explain a divide in userbase on what purchases are made. (Just a thought)

Pretty crazy huh? I believe recognition for the games in general tend to help it get more awards in graphics in particular. The winner for the past years have all been in the top 5 GOTY. This is the first time an artistic game like Journey wins the award but you cant deny its media attention. Nearly every big site has given it GOTY even! But TWD got a bunch from other sites that count as well hence why ZaneWanes argument is a bit lol.
