A negative for forced Vita functionality?! REALLY? I swear these reviewers complain about everything nowadays. Soon you're going to hear "not enough leaves on the trees". |
i wonder if we are going to hear "forced Wii U functionality"
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Monster Hunter is a Japanese oriented game, take a look at Japanese scores, they aren't 6s or 7s, they are 9s and 10s. Assassin's Creed is a western oriented game, if you want it to be "the game", you need much better reviews than that. I'm sure most Vita fans hoped it to be a higher than 85 game, and you can see it how the goalpost has been moved, and now they say reviews don't matter, as the game would sell anyway.
I have been playing for a few hours now and i must say the game is pretty good. The translation from home console to handheld was done nicely. Sometimes you feel like you are playing a ps3 port.
The graphics are very good, and the music is great. Finally the touch screen features blends well, kinda makes me wish we had a touch screen PS3 controller AC was made for touch screen.
Good game, 4/5 for me, give it a shot you all will be surprised, played for about 6 hours straight, the only reason why i stopped playing was because i have to work early tomorrow, cant wait to pick up where i left off.

Might want to check this thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=147495&page=1# Even I predicted 75! Omg I am a master. |
Average: 81. You can see that almost all of the users that give higher predictions are sony/vita fans, so you could have provided a good prediction, but it doesn't mean that what I said is untrue.

Eh, I seem to have remembered things wrong. I couldn't find anything about Capcom directly discussing Revelations' sales. However, if you read between the lines a little bit, you can find something in this 6-month-old interview with IGN. First of all, the producer of the game mentioned that, "The incredibly positive fan reaction to Revelations has definitely given me motivation to make another 3DS RE title," and, "Hearing players say how much they enjoyed Revelations does kind of make me want to forget the other projects and get stuck right into making another RE game for fans to enjoy." Now, he's not talking about sales, but I don't think he'd be interested in a sequel if he perceived the game as a relative flop. The more telling bit, though, might be this: When we conducted our interview, Revelations had just debuted in Japan and was the #1 selling game in the country. Noting that this game had a more old school, survival horror focus than other Resident Evil games, we asked if this commercial reception encouraged him to continue this approach with future installments. "Of course!" Kawata told us. "Game development is always a very taxing process, no matter what the project, and the only thing that gets us through is the belief that, at the end of the journey, there are people waiting to enjoy the game. So if a game sells particularly well, then we have good reason to make more titles like it." I don't think I'm reading too much into this to conclude that RE:R's producer said that the game sold "particularly well," or at least well enough to merit a sequel. Of course, as mentioned, the interview took place immediately after the game's debut, when all he knew about was the first week of sales. But he liked the looks of that first week. |
Thats just it though its only after one week of sales...in Japan. I wonder if he would say the same thing now, especially considering America where the game should have been doing much better considering the pedigree of the game in question. If your getting good critical reception, then of course you're going to wanna follow up, that goes for any medium regardless of sales, especially if those involved care about what they are doing (its no always about money). Not to mention the game has been heavily discounted for a while and its still only crawling along. Its less than 20 new on Amazon...damn shame really.
I hope people realize that "forced" can be taken as meaning these particular uses of Vita's features seem "unnatural" or "unfitting" as opposed to "every single attempt to make use of Vita's features is automatically annoying". Given time, third-parties will find out what gameplay mechanics work best with Vita's functionality. We've seen first-party titles like Gravity Rush and Little Big Planet use Vita's features inoffensively, at the least. Remember that later on in the Wii's life, most Nintendo games either used motion control as a necessary core mechanic to be designed around or relegated to the occasional unassuming shake or tilt in lieu of buttons. One way meant motion control felt more natural, and the other way had about the same effect.
EDIT: Oh, and the DS took forever before anyone had a clue what to do with it.

I'm not too sure about that... 81 is only 6 points away from the current average (and it could go up or down when more reviews are added). Meanwhile, ACIII is 4 points away from the average. Almost no game is right on. But of course everyone hoped that it would score well, Vita fans or not (unless you hate great games), but that's not what people are banking on in the end. |
72% now. This game can't be considered a killer app with that scores.

Don't give them ideas.
