Forums - Sony - Vita sellthrough “a marathon, not a sprint”, says Koller

A third party bailout is all that Sony can hope for.

Seeing how the prefered order of many Japanese developers seems to be PSV > PSP > 3DS, such a bailout isn't out of the question. And before anyone points out that there are hardly any PSV games, that's because the hardware sales are so low at the moment that most third parties go for another PSP game. It's still evident that third parties would much prefer to develop for a PlayStation product, so it was a good decision by Nintendo to cut Sony's aorta.

This is the problem though. If third parties don't see sales they won't make games. If gamers don't see games they won't give sales. Its a catch 22.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

According to this article, we should see some price decreases, in manufacturing cost anyway, in a few years, and see the OLED screen cost as much as a LCD screen in 2016.

I think the question is what place the Vita will be after the marathon is over, it's not like the competitions are not in the same race, not only did they start earlier but they also run faster.....

The good news is the Wii might be discontinued soon so the Vita might stop being outsold by it like this past week.

lol, this again?

Yes. Don't be mad. What he says is true.

I can see the Vita outselling the 3DS weekly in 3-4 years.

I  can see it outseling the 3DS next year. But not without a drastic pricee cut. Software alone will not get it anywhere close.

Could you be more specific, will it outsell the 3DS in certain regions? certain weeks? the whole year?

It just that it appears that you are just typing a bunch of wishfull thinking.

You paint quite an image. What do you mean by the bolded?

Its called "momentum" and word of mouth. The longer Vita is in a funk the longer people will say to their friends it isn't worth buying.

And whoever said Vita can outsell 3ds weekly next year or anytime.......wow. Maybe for one week when hardware spikes on a killer IP, but then itll stabilize back to 3ds domination.

You should read carefully before making assumptions. I never saidi it was going to happen or that it was likely. In fact I think its pretty unlikely that the vita will ever pass the 3DS in sales, but there is always the possibility if sony cut the price of the vita and coupled it with great IPs.

As for you commenting on a sony product, considering how much you hate sony, makes anything you say reliable or unbiased.

Nintendo secured Monster Hunter exclusivity.

Ah. Yeah, that was an impressive move on Nintendo's part, I never knew they had it in them.

Was it actually confirmed that they did this, though? I mean whether they actively sought to secure it as an exclusive somehow.
