Forums - Gaming - Assassin's Creed III reviews in - no GOTY material here

Seriously stop with looking at versions of the games. Look at the one that has the most reviews and put focus on that one. We use meta to get a somewhat ..score based upon as many opinions as possible and not as few as possible. Meta prioritizes the 360 more hence fills that one in more throughly. Half of the 360 reviews are PS3 reviews as well really and vice versa too! So stop bickering and acting like the scores of +2 or -2 means shit due to the reviews being less. Pick the one with the highest AMOUNT Of reviews and leave it at that.

Yeah, it's as simple as that.

Statistically it's the most accurate method.

For example Batman Arkham City has 96% on PS3 on 42 reviews and it has 94% on X360 on 87 reviews.

So what is Batman AC's Metascore? It's 94%. Because it would even be wrong to just take the average of 94 and 96, which is 95%, because the PS3 version would then get far too much weight. And actually it wouldn't even be the PS3 version of the game getting too much weight, but it would be those particular, fewer, reviews that Metacritic lists under the PS3 version.

So a simple and accurate rule is, and I quote you:

Pick the one with the highest AMOUNT Of reviews and leave it at that.

I watched the GT review and now I'm so hyyyyyyped!

I smell a masterpiece. I love that there seems to be so many different things to do, even the mundane things.

And the landscapes! Can't wait to go into the wilderness and just enjoy being there.

And damn, the graphics fidelity on the X360 version that was reviewed looked almost like a 1080p game! I'm worried the PS3 version will look much muddier and grainy.

I dunno, I like the muddy yet shadowy look of the PS3 version. It's more accurate and realistic and gritty. It had the same difference for GTA. I can't fault peole for liking the smoother look and lighting of the 360 version. The 360 version is vibrant while the PS3 version is just dark. Depends on what you like aesthetically.

In general I agree with this very much. I too prefer the PS3 graphics of most multiplats as I see them as more accurate, realistic and gritty. I love realistic and gritty!

But I just happened to see the review of the X360 version and what struck me was the amazing grafix fidelity.

Edit: see above

One game now sets the standard for all else past, present, and future?

With AC3, it just means one is a better 80's game then the other but neither are 90+ material.

Fixed this for you. Neither is GOTY, but one is much closer

maybe you didn't read my post when I quoted you on the last page, but the two versions are only 2 points apart at the moment.

I did. . Just questioning his thinking process.

lol yesterday when you questioned the 70-79, 80-89, 90+ rule........I was genuinely outraged. It struck me as blasphemy, like you gave the finger to my religion or something. Like you broke the unwritten law among gamers and shunned the standard I have adopted without question for literally years and learned from others before I took an active role in console wars.

The system ain't perfect, such as seperating a 89 game from a 90 game, but I feel its the best system we have and should be strict in its adoption. And good thing AC3 metas are very close now....you seriosuly struck a nerve with me :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Damn, and I still have to wait 16 days for this game...

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Played 2,5 hours and im starting to get where the story is heading with the character I am xD I think its related to "sex" lol

If I'd rate it based on the very little time, I'd give it a 8.5/10 probably. Its a very fun game but the start really was dragging on especially during the ..sea part.

The only things I don't like about the AC engine is: Horrible screen tearing (don't know if it's in this one too), flickering shadows (evident in that video), awkward clipping issues and facial animations are sometimes lackluster.

Yeah, there's always a lot of screen tearing in Assassin's Creed.

But what does clipping issues actually mean?
