I find that hard to believe, because we had so many World War II games and I've never heard any complaints from Germans or Austrians about them having to slaughter their virtual ancestors in a video game in order to beat the game.

There have been games that have been banned in Germany due to Nazi references.

You can't lump a whole nation in with a couple of people making crappy youtube videos!

That video is meant to be a joke I'm guessing. If any people are offended then they need to not take a video game so seriously.

I see more and more British people on YouTube bashing on Assassins Creed 3 and giving it a low score. They claim that the game is inacurate and hateful.

Here is one example, video below.

The truth of the matter is, the United States would not have existed if the British gave into our demands.  The American colonists didn't want to cede from the British Empire, but the King wasn't going to give into colonists demands.   The Brits were using the colonies (the American colonies) to fund their war with France, and in the process making the colonies pay more for that effort than the British were.

Oddly enough, though France sided with the US, it ended up costing them the most.  Louis XVI was overthrown, Napolean threw France into a European warn, and France ended up losing all it's New World interests, including Quebec, and the Northwest Territory.  Where as for Great Britain, it ended up being beneficial.  Well, once we got past 1815 and the end of the War of 1812.

But any Brits who are offended really should ask Quebecies, Americans, and Native Americans if they're offended at all by the British and everything they did during the colonial period up to the end of the War of 1812.  How many people died in the name of British Empirical expansion?

On another note, I think that video was supposed to be sarcastic.

Quebec was lost back at the end of the Seven Years' War, or French and Indian War. It was British debt from the French and Indian part of the Seven Years' War, debt that the British tried to pass off on the colonies (thinking that, hey, we spent this money mostly to defend you guys, you should pay for it, which does, on its face, sound fair), the rather unfair ways in which they tried to impose these taxes then inflaming America, giving France their chance to bite back, overextending themselves and bringing down their monarchy

Though you're largely correct.

I'm thinking that could be a sore point with the British only because we Americans tend to play up how mean the British were in the runup to and during the Revolutionary war, although at the same time the British also like to think they are nicer than they were in throughout their global colonial adventures (like getting the Chinese hooked on Opium to destroy their balance of trade...)

Youth protection has been of high concern in Germany because of everything that happened during the World War II era, namely the intense propaganda and Hitler youth. The country certainly has been overcompensating, but the enforcements have become laxer over time. In the '80s a game like River Raid was banned, from today's perspective it's an absolutely harmless game. But back then the theme of war alone was troublesome.

The games you are refering to were banned due to Nazi symbols, not because they were about killing Germans. Or they were banned due to overly gruesome executions (for video game standards at the time) of virtual people regardless of their nationality, but never because the game was about killing Germans.

I'm pretty sure you killed Nazis in Wolfenstein 3D but I may be wrong. Can't really remember. But in Germany after 10 years that a game has been banned the ban is revoked.

Thats pretty rediculous if true....

Not to mention youll be killing Americans in the game as well.

To put the British of the period into perspective. During the War of 1812, the British won every major decisive battle except one and that didn't wasn't won until after the treaty was signed. They routed the US Government, ransacked and burned the capital, and still ended up capitulating and lost the war.

Heck, the whole reason why Patton wanted to get to Berlin before the British was so that Montgomery wouldn't surrender to the Germans.

Note: I know the difference between the 1770's and the 1810's, but it was still King George. Up until the American Revolutionaries, no military power great or small had ever defeated the British on it's own territory, which technically the American colonies were.

The only other people were to deal the British any significant blows were the two other superpowers of the time, the French and Spanish, and then the Germans in WWII at Dunkirk. The odd thing is the British consider Dunkirk a highlight of WWII. Nothing more uplifting than retreating with 50,000 soldiers either captured or killed.
