Forums - Nintendo - News from Nintendo’s latest investor’s briefing – 250k on GameStop’s Wii U wait list

wow 250k just for gamestop. I figured ~500k for NA launch overall... but if Gamestop is 250k, then Walmart has to be >250k. Then you still have Bestbuy, Target, ToysRUs, Sears/Kmart, and that's just the pre-orders. What about the units that will be available on launch day for those that line up?

If they only plan on selling 5.5m from Nov18th to March31, then I can't see them having more than 3.5m avail for 2012. Then 2m for Q1 2013.

So, how would they support each territory? 1.5m NA, 1m EU, 1m Japan? 1m at launch for NA? Seems too low if Gamestop is getting 25% of that.

I'm just thinking out loud here, what do you all think?

250k on the waiting list? That's decent I guess.

That's more then half the total number of Wii's sold in the US in its launch month. Given that these aren't pre-orders, but people who couldn't GET pre-orders, that's pretty damn good.

The Wii is dead. Not much of a proud accomplishment to sell more than a Wii even if it was counting it for the entire month. No offence to Nintendo fans

He's comparing to Wii's launch month, not it's last month.

Said the same thing. Honestly, I expect Nintendo to ship more units in Europe. Nintendo earns more profit from selling hardware + software over there. But yeah its crazy, 250k on waiting list... -_- I'm glad I have my 3 pre-ordered lol

"- 3DS losses improved in the second quarter"

They need to release more vidja gamez outside Japan for 3DS. I hadn't got anything to play for a while since all the 3rd parties titles are crappy.

It looks like Wii U is pretty much guaranteed to be sold out for its first year.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
