Forums - Politics - Woman Set on Fire for Wearing Obama Shirt ~ Is it time America outlaws extremist organizations like the KKK?

Embarrassing. And, she gets to spend the rest of her life in severe pain and disfigured for her troubles. Should be facing criminal charges, too. AND, should a legit hate crime take place, the real victim will be looked at with skepticism. And for what? Some sympathy? 15 minutes of fame?

Even reading the OP, the whole thing just seemed implausible. A few posts down and my suspicions were confirmed. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Also.... honestly.

I'd guess this has less to do with any political position and more to do with a mental disease and a huge craving for attention... and the political reasons just being an added lair for said attention.

Maybe not, but that's the only way i can rationalize it.

I'd think that has to be the case. People can get pretty crazy about politics, but to set oneself on fire... Christ. That takes a mental condition.

Also, it seems like every single faked hate crime I've heard about was done by a woman. Not to sound sexist or anything, but all women are fucking insane.

The act of violence is already illegal. Tearing up the Constitution won't stop hate or violence.

I hope the young woman recovers and her attackers are brought to justice. I doubt it was her shirt that the racist bastards targeted.

I still have pics on my PSP (I can probably port them to the web in no time--my gaming consoles are full of so much photographic evidence!) of a guy who didn't want to pay for his car so he concocted a story saying that he had a flat tire and while it sat on the side of the road, somebody painted all sorts of racist stuff on his car.  We didn't believe him and it was reflected in the report.

It kinda makes me feel sorry for the KKK.  They never did anything to anybody but......oh.  Yeah.  Nevermind.

By "guy" I'm gonna assume you meant "chick", otherwise my whole worldview starts to crumble.

Wish I'd become a cop so I could refer to my collection of creepshots as "photographic evidence".

We didn't really investigate it much because it was pretty obvious it was fake (and we didn't really want the media) but I bet that if we did, we would have found out that he was really a woman OR his girlfriend put him up to it.  Women are pretty cunning.

On second thought, he was just trying to save money. That's a reasonable and manly thing to do. No way a woman was involved with that business.

Anyone that does it for very suspicious reasons.

This woman had a huge Facebook page up within hours of her being rushed to the hospital. It reeked of suspicion. I was very surprised they figured it out as quickly as they did. A similar issue happened recently in Lincoln, Nebraska where a lesbian was a (supposed) target of a hate crime. Turns out, she did it to herself for attention.

The worst part about these incedents is that they take away from legitimate crimes that are comitted. I hope that this woman goes to jail for some time.

I don't think jailtime is much of a concern to someone who just lit themselves on fire.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that she probably has bigger issues to deal with in her life.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

-_- SMH

Whether she was actually set on fire by those dudes or she lied and did it herself remains the same.

The human race are capable of some EVIL and STUPID things.
