Forums - Gaming - Nintendo needs to do more than just make Zelda HD next gen to become relevant!

Surprisingly I thought the story in Skyward sword was a step up for the series. It felt like there was more of an emotional connection between the characters and I really enjoyed that. I'm not finished with the game yet, but i'm fairly close to done. I do agree that they need to add some voice acting.

I agree. Skyward Sword has the best story and storytelling in the series.

As far as the OP goes...I don't think there's anything wrong with the story in Zelda games. They've managed to sneak in a lot of twists, new characters, and different story arcs within the main narrative over the past 26 years.

In terms of a huge world to explore with lots of secret items and surprises, again I think Nintendo has that covered. Skyward Sword moved a little away from that, and I think that was a miscalculation. I think Zelda should be getting more open-ended, not less so. But Nintendo should be given credit for trying to reinvent the franchise, especially when there wasn't exactly fan outcry to do so.

And, lastly, voice acting. I'd just as soon keep it out. It's part of the franchise, and I think it works.

For me, The Legend of Zelda is the best video game franchise of all time. And it's pretty much perfect. Nintendo will continue to put its best talent behind the upcoming Zelda games, whether they're in HD or not.

Well, first what Nintendo needs to do is remake Skyward Sword in HD with an option for dual analog control. That would sell really well.

For a ground-up Wii U Zelda, it needs to rival Final Fantasy and Assassin's Creed in scope and scale, and for that to happen in a reasonable amount of time, Iwata and Miyamoto need to partner EAD up with other studios to make sure the game gets done before 2015. People aren't going to wait four years into the Wii U's lifespan for a Zelda, because otherwise they are going to burn one of their only bridges.

Anything except MMO, long cutscenes, voice acting and futuristic, is valid.

To me just create a lot of gamepad usages and I'm fine. This game is at least 3 years away, though, so why worry.

The series should go back to its roots; go back to 2D Zelda. And by that I don't mean 2D graphics. The first Zelda had loads of exploration in it!! You didn't even know where the first dungeon lay; you had to find it! It was awesome.

Just combine LoZ with LoZ: OoT and you've struck gold.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Ram together Skyward Sword's combat and approach to area and temple design with Majora's Mask's approach to overarching world design, and you've got a winner.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Elegantly balance exploration, combat, and puzzling without any sacrifices made in narrative.

I mean make it more like Metroid.

After reading the OP I've come to the conclusion that he was saying Zelda is currently irrelevant.

...

Just bring Tingle back already. In HD.

IMO, all they need to do is make a true open world a la skyrim, give a shit ton of things to do in that world, and finaly less hand holding (the only flaw in SS imo was the fact that you always knew exactly where to go and where to find w/v you were looking for)
