Forums - Sony - Holy Crap PS Plus is AMAZING!

This post is just me boasting about how AMAZING PS Plus is.

Alright I literally got PS Plus for the first time 10 minutes ago (I've had a PS3 for almost 4 years). I NEVER realized how much content you could get for free. I paid 18$ for 3 months and have already gotten 80$ worth of content for FREE. I'm sorry but if you are an avid Playstation gamer and you don't have PS Plus then you should be ashamed of yourself (lol). Seriously though, does Xbox live offer anything else other than the ability to play online? I'm not trying to start a hate thread but I just simply can't understand why someone would choose Xbox Live over PSN. I'm so mad that I missed out on the Red Dead Redemption thing for September. Just got inFamous 2 so I guess I'll be fine =P.  Does anyone know if they offer these amazing games for free every month? Like for example I know in September it was Red Dead and I'm guessing this month it's inFamous. PS PLUS IS THE GREATEST.

I love you all. (yes homo)

Trouble is I cancelled my PSN Plus as the content you get is well I havent touched it. As I dont play online on my PS3 ( I tried Killzone 3 and Uncharted but theres to few people and disconnects all the time ) Its pretty pointless. Also theres next to no content in the UK on PSN. Live for example has at least 300+ more demos and over 2500 more games than PSN. Thanks to Xbox Live Indie games support.

I also subscribed to PS+ several months ago. For the money I spent on PS+, I got games like InFamous2 or Red Dead Redemption that I was probably going to buy. So I surely have profited by PS+.

But although the instant game collection is a good opportunity, I will not keep my PS+ subscription. I already have a huge backlog of 20 games and therefore I do not need more games. Since I rent my PS+ games I should give them a higher priority since I will lose access to them in a few months.

So I get some games for free, that I would never have bought. So I will not play them (Bulletstorm for example)now even if I get them for free because I simply do not like the Genre.

Then there are games like Deus EX and Dead Space 2. I know that they were very well reviewed and they are for free... but I simply doubt that I may like them. I do not want to have 0% games on my trophy list and so I think about which games I play... and if I start playing them I try to finish them. And since I am not a big fan of SciFi I doubt that I will like them.

Thats the problem with subscription services. Since you pay for them you want to get the most out of them since you don't want to waste money. But I want to chose for myself which games I play. I have no control on which games are coming to the instant game collection and I do not have time to play all games.

For me, it is a kind of a lose-lose-situation. If I play Deus EX now instead of a game I would really like to play now, I am going for less fun for me and I waste time ... and if I play the other games, I miss out on the free games and waste money. Either way, I somehow lose.

So, If I had only little money and therefore no backlog and I could not afford the really wanted games at launch, I would surely benefit from PS+. But for my personal situation, where time is the restraint, I think that I do not need it anymore, since I can't make full use of it. Since I can only get games that I do not already have bought I will most likely get games that I do not really want and that I normally would never play anyway.

I must say, PSN+ is fantastic. I know very well that XBL has better options with chatting/cros chat etc. But then again I can appreciatie that for only +/- $ 50,- a year. You can play a lot of games without paying additionally for it and have 1GB cloud room for backup you saved games! I think this is worth the money!

Anyone who thinks XBL Gold is better than PS Plus is in denial.

No ifs or buts about it, PS Plus beats XBL Gold because:

- 10 instant games to play as long as your subscription is running
- 3 More games per month
- Some months have a bonus 4th or 5th game
- Sometimes get a game free to keep forever.
- Several times the amount of content put into PS+ sales than MS deal of the week or other very rare sale specials, over a year is hundreds more items in PS Plus sales.
- Day 1 discounts on new games very often
- Sometimes brand new games are free for PS+ members
- Free avatar items and themes that usualy cost money, keep forever.

What does XBL Gold offer that PS Plus doesn't:

- Cross game chat
- 15s voice messages

Not even a contest.

your opinion is not fact

i did subscribe to plus in September and also glad about the service... in October the game of the month is not infamous 2... its bulletstorm and resident evil 5 if you are in EU and king of fighters XIII if you are in the US.

Ohh damn I wish I lived in Europe lol.

i have to admit, bulletstorm is a lot better than i thought. RE5 i had already, but good too (especially for people who have move, the game is better with move imo)
but i always have been a KOF fan and already have KOF XIII, so i am also happier with the October EU update.
but all depends on taste really!

Bulletstorm is fantastic, I really loved it. I would never have bought it..RE5 I bought it with a huge discount (PSN+) about a year ago...which is also great..I dont know why people bash it

hm.. while I thought Bulletstorm was pretty fun to play it's story was so moronic it got in the way of my enjoyment and I hated all characters :P

why the hell won't they ever shoot the bad guy ? not a single bullet shot in his direction (even in the showdown scene afaik he only shots a barrel, but not directly at him), but they kill a lot of "faceless grunts" without hesitation

PSN Plus is amazing. It gives what Microsoft never would for your money, which puts it right behind Steam in my book. Xbox Live forces you to pay purely for the basics. I just got Plus and I've already played like five games for free and I've purchased one on discount. It gives you hundreds to thousands of dollars in games per year, with themes, discounts and more for free or by discount for the cost of joining. Xbox Live has never given me as much gameplay. it's also my ticket to the smaller games that I probably wouldn't have touched because I am so focused on the larger retail titles. Personally, I cannot wait until today to see what new games are coming to plus.

That's how you turn a potentially great thread talking about the merrits of one thing into a fanboy fight.

So...

1. Paying for XBL is justified because they run servers, but PSN is free with the same thing.
2. Ads on XBL is not bad thing though I paid for the service.
3. Free games are not good on PS+ because I have to pay for it but I pay the same fee with no free games on LIve.
4. It is justified to pay for Live cause it has cross-game chat, avatars etc. but Vita does the same thing for free is not a big deal.

I don't know how much hypocrate a person can be. It is not logic, it is blindness.

Anyway, OT, the PS+ is a great service no doubt. I hope they keep adding features to it in the years to come.

PS Plus is excellent value if you want to play the free games, if you don't then there is no value to a perceived customer. It's the same argument for Gold that some people depending on their habits will see value where as others will not.

Not sure why you all have to have some childish argument over which is better PSN Plus or Gold, they're vastly different products being sold under different circumstances. I wouldn't get enough time to take advantage of PSN Plus so it's of no value to me personally but that doesn't make it a worthless service as I appreciate it's a great service for those that use it.

Theres no equality, if there was a PSN Plus on the 360 it would become another tier service, like a Platinum. You know Microsoft could stand to make a little more doing something like this on live. This way you pay like $100 for the whole package of being able to use your own online connection and top tier perks. :)
