Smart move, no sense for the ps3 to cost more now, if only the 12gb model was available in the usa

They should release the 12 GB model in US with a cheaper price tag without games.

Sony is adapting a Microsoft strategy where they lower the price of specific bundles and SKUs instead of lowering the price of a standard model
I have to say, buying another PS3 is becoming more enticing with these deals Sony has. My only problem is that I still won't be able to play Skyrim...

I was in the Mediamarkt checking out the demo model ($299) they have sitting there, and while doing so two people bought a 320G PS3 model. They had tons of 320G models coming in in the past weeks ($229) and it is this model, at that price, that drives PS3 sales, not the new model. (They also have "exclusivewhite PS3 sitting like dead paperweight in the store, at $349). I'd assume that onse the 320G stock is depleted, we could see a price drop for the new models.
The $270 price tag was probably just a quick cash grab by Sony to improve their bottom line for the quarter. Has there been a teardown of the new model yet? If they were making a decent margin on the old model I would imagine the new one was pulling in a tidy sum at the $270 pricepoint.
